This is my first post so a little background is due...

At the age of 16 in '86 I bought my 69 Charger SE.  In '90 while in college the disk brake caliper started leaking and I had no money...long story short..it has been parked ever since!

24 years later I am finally in a position to get it restored.  When I bought it, it was a b5 blue.  It is a numbers matching SE with a lot of good options so I am restoring back to original including the original color b3 blue.

I have seen the post from a few years ago looking for B3 blue pics but I was hoping to find some new pics.

I'll start to post pics as soon as I figure that all out...

thanks..

I don't have any pics handy but B3 will look awesome!  Welcome to the site and do you have any pics of the car as it sits currently?

Search for ice blue.   Look up profile.  One of his last posts is kind of the album of his build.  Many links to his Facebook page and more recent pictures.

It's beautiful.  IMO, the best looking blue for 69.

Nice car. Are the quarters AMD? How do the quarters fit?

Welcome and I like your decision on the color and other restoration plans.....should be beautiful.

What happened between 1986 to 2014 that you had to replace all that metal park it out side and leave it to the elements? Seemed like a decent enough car back in 86 at least. Cant wait to see the final result!

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Welcome to DC.com!!

You & I were the same age/year when buying our first Charger. I got my '68 at that time, still have it.
Pretty cool to say you still have your first car.  :yesnod:

Stunning combo.  :drool5:
Looks like it's getting some nice metal work. Will you be updating progress in this thread?

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

To answer some of the questions...

In 86 the car was far from perfect.  I knew when I bought it  it needed quarters  But at 16 you don't care.  The front inner fenders were not in great condition either.  But the car was complete and completely original.  Then after i bought it it never saw the Pittsburgh salt...The problem was that it saw it for the first 17 years  :rotz:  Then it sat in the gravel driveway while I was in college...that is pretty much what did the rear end on...you know, window leakage and a leaky cover!  :brickwall:  once I had my own place I started to tear it down...then I met my wife...and life goes on.  fast forward to 2013...my dad who helped me buy it had a couple of heart attacks and my wife and I decided that I needed to get it done before he is not able to enjoy it with me...so here we are...a true lifelong dream!

Yes the quarters are AMD along with all the new metal.  I felt it was the best chance of it all fitting together and yes they fit very well.  the toughest part is fitting the lower corners and getting the correct gaps.

I grew up in a dirt racing family and everyone always talked about wishing they had their first car.  I was lucky enough for mine to be a 69 Charger so I hung onto it...

What is everyone's thoughts?  should I continue to post updates to this post or create new one for the progress?

Or delete them from this one.  That way space isn't used twice for the same photos. (a crime I'm guilty of too btw)  ;)
