OK, as some know, I just put a 426 Hemi in the Daytona with TTI headers and power steering.... Well........ I think I have a starter going south and it is freakin' brand new.... It acts like it is too far advanced, but it isn't. Then, it'll work fine.... I will start off with putting another new starter relay... But, in the event that it ISN'T the relay, what is the difficulty with removing the mini-starter with a 426 Hemi with TTI headers in a '69 B-body ( Daytona in this case ).

As the world turns, I just go for the ride.....   :smash:

yep that's the way it is. Same with 440. If you need to change the starter either pull the transmission or the engine. whichever you think is easier, with 440 it is easier to pull transmission. I am not looking forward to the day when my starter needs changing.

Unbolt header both ends, driver side. Unbolt driver side motor mount. Jack up engine, driver side and you can move header around to get at the starter out.

I put a known good battery and it did the same thing..... Sounds like a dang Chevy starter that's not shimmed correctly..... It occurred when the motor was cold, not warm.... I'll change out the starter relay next, have a NOS one showing up soon, but my gut says starter......

If pulled the steering column and spent a lot of time on my back with a rachet with several extentions and universal joints unbolt in it and was barely able to squeeze my full size starter out through the headers. My car is a 72 with a 440 and I don't know what brand my headers are but it may work in your daytona.
