I just got off the phone with AMD. The bumpers should ship by 8/15/14 and be available by mid Sept. sometime.  :2thumbs: As always my timing is terrible, I've spent all week repairing the bumper/bumper frame and grille I bought last year so I can get it mounted on the car this weekend. Now I must decide if waiting is worth the effort!

   ;)

Your timing sounds like mine.  :eek2: I think you should keep us up to date on your next component project so we can wait till you finish and pick up the newly released repo.  :smilielol:

That's good news for the 70 crowd for sure.

This is great news!
This will make converting those '69s into '70s that much easier.

Now you have to wonder if other parts, including fenders might be reproduced.   :shruggy:

You know, for the fender conversions with the Daytona crowd.  :D

Chromed right ?
Are they making the long thin metal brackets too ?

Awesome I already have a AMD rear so they will match.

If you mean this frame for the bumper, no just the chrome. (This is sitting upside down.)

Wonder what Price will be? Wonder how accurate the look & fit will be compared to a factory original? :scratchchin: :shruggy: :Twocents: LEON.

I wouldn't hold my breath for other '70 front end parts just because this one was made.

The chrome plating factor tips the scales much farther in favor of buying repros of a bumper, compared to painted sheetmetal.

Replating old stuff costs way more than plating a brand new part for the first time.  And the average home restorer cannot just replate things himself to cheapen that cost.    Every home restorer who want a shiny bumper is guaranteed to be writing a check to somebody for at least several hundred bucks.

True 70 bumpers can rust badly from the inside due to the tight fitting bumper frame on the bottom trapping dirt and water. There can be back side rust that makes an otherwise good bumper a poor rechrome.

don duick

would be great if they made a lightweight version

b5blue

The entire Bumper, grille, with bumper frame and all hardware is 70 pounds without the door motor.

If only they'd jump to doors and hoods now.......

It's a reproduction bumper.  This probably will be a lightweight version.

The chrome bumper itself really doesn't weigh all that much. It's the heavy support bracketry that adds the majority of the weight.  :yesnod:

I can't believe what I'm hearing. So much excitement to make your cars more AMD. Just be patient and look for genuine Chrysler, unless you have no other choice.
