Take it easy !!! just trying see if it was your dumb luck or installer error ! If the seal on the rod becomes dislodged it will leak , I always glue them in place . I always thought all the shit we buy for our junkers comes from China ???  SOMEBODY NEEDS A HUG !!!!

Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.

I used black 3M weather strip adhesive . The problem I had was in operation the rod is not straght up and down , it is on various angles and COULD pull seal out of groove .

That seal will leak if not in groove when rod is extended. Used them for many years without issue  . For the record only use these with dust boot removed ,  shown below is the dust boot  not needed in Daytona application . The second photo is how it should look with dust boot removed . Yes it will leak like a sieve if this seal becomes dislodged  .Also note how much is cut off to operate with Stinger nose , others nose cones will also require shorting of rod

Larry built my headlight system with gto pods . it works great no leaks. no strange noises. here's a vid of them . Rene

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.
