Hi all,

i can't get my 440 running good.I have a firecore50 rtr ignition system, put on a brand new proform 750 carb on it.Ignition timing, carbtuning sould be fine.According to the former owner of my car the engine was rebuild less than 500 miles ago. :shruggy:
At idle it almost dies bacause it's running so rich. Also i can't get the engine running smooth, even when i put my foot (half) on the throttle,i still have the feeling it gets to much fuel.
I'm starting to think my camshaft is bad.

Any thoughts?
Thanks.

What's your idle speed? Where's your timing set at? What jets and settings do you have on the 'carb?  How do you know the car is running rich?

Can you clarify why you state the ignition timing and carb tuning should be fine?  I am wondering whether you mean should be fine, or are fine. Should implies a level of uncertainty.  Have you checked these yourself?  Or is this what the former owner told you.  If not, this is where I would start.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Johnny,

It sounds like it just needs some tuning.  :yesnod:

Where is the timing set at ?

Have you adjusted the 4 corner idle using a vacuum guage ?

Give us some more tuning details so we can help  ;)
