Wiring: YearOne vs Classic Industries

It seems that both Year One and Classic Industries now carry the reproduction wiring harnesses. I'm I remembering correctly that only Year One used to? Anyone seen the Classic harness...I'm wondering about the quality. Are they made by the same manufacturer?

I know a few people here have used this kit with success. I asked the company that'll likely restore, test and calibrate my gauge cluster and they recommended avoiding the aftermarket harnesses as they don't always work well with factory pieces (like gauges). Something to do with the wire gauge and the high current Mopars tend to run. But again, I know a few guys here have used the AAW kit with success, so maybe they are very well adapted kits now. I'm actually still considering it myself, but I have yet to fully price out and compare the kits.

You said "reproduction" not "replacement". There are lots of replacement harnesses.

Well, the part number is a Year One part number soooo I'd *assume* they are. You can call and ask. I know of no one else making correct dash harnesses.

Now, the exclusive agreement with YO (as far as I know) is dash harnesses. Maybe even specifically B-body dash harnesses. M&H can sell other harnesses to other vendors directly. Plus, there are other companies (Evans for example) making engine harnesses - and maybe some of the other smaller harnesses. In any case, it looks like you can get the correct harness from several places. I'd still wait on a coupon or sale if possible.

Interesting note related to this: people always say that Mopar part prices are higher than other brands and that you can build a Ford or Chevy for much less. When it comes to dash wiring, it wasn't even available for my 70 Mach 1 until a couple years ago and, now that it is, it's about $800. But I can get a headliner for $29 so it will likely even out...
