Hi all!

I have been considering doing the conversion from Automatic to Manual 5 speed transmission.  I see that http://www.passonperformance.com/ is making a 5 speed that does not require any cutting of the Torsion bar support out of the floor.  I called Passion Performance yesterday and found out they are a year and a half backed up on orders.  Has anyone ordered one?  Who is on the list?  Has anyone installed one of their 5 speeds?

Thanks,

Eric

I'm on the list for one. I'm in no hurry for it, as long as I get one.
IMO, It is an amazing accomplishment to be able to remove your original trans and bolt in a Brand New 5 speed and not have to change anything. It is a lot of money, but there is no custom driveshaft to make, floors to cut, crossmembers to modify. I also like the fact that it is easily reversible. If i want to take the 5 speed out and put the 4 speed back in, it is a matter of unbolting it and bolting the 4 speed back in.

I did not ask for an eta. I should ask, but never thought to ask.
Like I said I am in no hurry for it.

Are they a year and a half backed up or a year and a half behind starting to build them?  I don't know if anyone has received one yet.  I want one too though so I intend to talk to him about in Columbus next week.

Im on the list too. They have delivered quite a few and Ive nothing but raving positives about them. Jamie builds them with very little outside help to keep a close eye on the build tolerances.

I think they are the best offering for the above reasons with on more to add. The car will still feel like a musclecar thru the gears ,with the added convenience of the overdrive.

I just heard about this new 5 speed yesterday.  What is the price on the unit?
My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

They've been cranking them out for a while now. I thought they had well over 300 pre-orders so it will take a while to get through all them and start working on regular production. Jamie told me at Carlisle that they still had a backlog of over a year.

It's about $4,500 (last I checked) - but that also includes a special shifter.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I called this week and he quoted me $4495 and his has 1 1/2 years back order.  I can't find anything bad about them online.  Does anyone on this forum have one installed?

Does anyone know if they do an auto swap kit with the 5 speed?

Ghoste

I don't see why not, they offer them with their four speeds.

I know of one member on here with an early one , and behind a hemi, sorry mate proof is in the pudding,
He might reveal now or maybe be just pissed at me ,
Anyway I've driven it, loved it, shifted like a new box , but then again I was drooling at shifting a hemi car   :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

It has the same dimensions as a factory 4 speed so it's the same as doing any other conversion. Passon is a Mopar 4-speed specialist so they'll have everything you need. And yes, they sell kits. Of course, it's cheaper to source all the pieces yourself since the conversion parts plus the transmission will set you back about $7k.

Thanks Troy, I emailed them and they quoted me 4K for the kit but didn't give me a cost for the 5 speed. A 5 speed would be cool but I am thinking I can do a lot of miles how it is for the cost of the swap.

I believe that "kit" you got a quote on includes a transmission at that price. If you want the 5-speed then deduct the cost of the 4-speed and add the cost of the 5-speed. That's how I came up with $7k.
