727 transmission dipstick tube. .clamp?

Hi all
my tranny dipstick tube feels like it is going to fall out.  Should there be some type of clamp or strap or something or does it just sit in the hole?
if anyone has pictures I would appreciate it!

Don't think I've seen one without a strap welded to the tube then attached using a trans to block bolt.
Google search images(727 /904 trans filler tube) will get you many pics.

Hmmm... ok. Maybe the weld broke on mine. I will double check this weekend.

There certainly is no strap on mine. I will be looking for a new tube I guess.  Is there any preferred supplier for a stock looking one?

Try not to buy after market chrome one
If you do look for threads on getting new one in block end , your strap could be still attached on engine mount , just a simple weld job

We're discussing TRANSMISSION dipsticks, not engine dipsticks.

Meant to say engine mounting point , ? Snappy John ? , don't the strap go through bell housing into block ,
Have a look at the bolts tab could be still there,
You could also put after market flexible Lokar type, don't cost the earth and you can mount dipstick on fire wall or any where it makes it easier,
