Hi guys, as some of you know i bought my 69 Charger a few mouths back and have been fixing things that were not done right by the previous owner. When i got the car i was told that it just had a new steering box and pump put on it that i noticed was not put back right and had to fix it when i got it where the column goes in to the box (was not in enough) so i fixed that so i cant really relie on what this past owner did,but i have a weird steering issue that only happens when i turn it to the left really hard or sharp and not all the time i can drive it and make it not do it ,but still I would like to know what it might be.
The problem is that if i turn it sharp to the left it feels like the tires are stuck to the left (as far as i can tell they are not) and wants to go that direction and will pull hard that way as well, if i jerk it to the right it goes away and is normal again. Not really sure what is happening anyone had this issue?

Jack the car so that both front wheels are clear of the ground and start the engine, if the wheels tend to "self steer" in one direction the valve on the top of the steering box needs adjustment.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks i will try that this weekend.

I am checking this post every day to see if you did what John had suggested because I have the same issue but only on right-hand turns.
I thought I fixed it last December when I torqued the three loose steering box bolts but the problem has returned and the bolts are still tight.

I have similar problem sometimes my steering wheel will feel like it is momentarily stuck. Is the adjustment as simple as loosening the 2 bolts and sliding the valve housing forwards or back?

Yes don almost that simple loosen bolts , be ready it will seep fluid, engine running, front wheels of the ground,
Preferably on a hoist , can be be done with a jack, you adjust the valve so with pressure from power steering holds the wheels straight, valve adjusted wrong or too far one way will turn the wheels, that easy,
Tighten bolts and turn steering full lock to full lock and recheck, the problem here is you have to repeat it sometimes because if loosen the valve off too much you can introduce air into the system and be back to square one  :2thumbs:

thanks  :2thumbs: will nip the bolts and tap with hammer (gently)

In my case the wheels do remain straight doing that test but i did find a loose nut on the drivers side center link tighten that up went for a drive and the steering seems much tighter know. Don't know if that will fix the issue yet.
