69 OUR/TEA

Just got back from the 1st Mecum on the East Coast, well,Harisburg,Pa.Was just there 2 weeks ago at Carlisle(15 min away). It is the closest so far to us on the East coast, and always wanted to attend one,so went for a nice weekend to check out some cars, the auction, and how it all runs in person.
Was a great time, very packed and as said by a few Mecum staff members I spoke to,it was one of if not the biggest turn out at one of their auctions, they were very surprised and basically see the desire for it on the East coast,so will make it a permanent spot now.
Anyway, bunch of cool stuff, the 2005 Dukes GL car was there and hit its reserve at $70k and hammered at $82k !!!!
Movie production quality, and that's not saying much.
Read display board carefully !!!!

Some other Mopars......

jaak

Real R/T with its numbers matching 383 and edelbrock carb and 4 speed automatic transmission, huh?

Why do people write jibberish to try to sell something? Just show the car, it is what it is. Thanks for sharing the pics though, I would love to have a GL with a Series or Movie history.

Display Board has some editorial latitude taken  :o

383 R/T, LOL, etc.

Lee #01, said so right on the doors  :shruggy:

Mytur Binsdirti

The restomod Cuda & orange parts car do nothing for me which leaves only the other three cars pictured as worthwhile. I was contemplating attending but by the looks of things, it appears that it really wasn't worth it.

Ghoste

I'd be interested to hear from the GL experts how much if any of that stuff on the story board is true.

Ha  , who wrote that crapola ,  Seriously saying its done 5 jumps is a selling point ???

It is movie GL 21  ,  it along with #16  #5 and #19 where sold directly by Warner Brothers , after a semi resto , sold with W.B Coa , unlike the rest of the Movie General lee's which went through the General auction company in California .

This GL had its roof damaged when it went to auction in Az barret jackson i think a couple years back ,  entire roof was replaced , it went through a couple more auctions before this one , last one it sold at $50k , so im guessing the owner who had it at this auction is smiling pretty big right now .

It was never a Jump car or performed any jumps  ,it had air tanks in the trunk to kick up dirt gravel , its main claim to fame in the movie is where it slings rocks at the patrol cars , "Painting the fence " .

At the end of filming it was still in good shape  , it wasn't used in the 2007 Dukes Beginning movie .

GL#10

Here is #19

#21  is a new record price for a movie GL , well maybe not when you see the asking price on #19 which was one of the Hero Gl's $89k .

I have #10 which is a 1968 R/T  stunt car

Legendary are known for asking big dollars for stuff but you don't hear so much what they get for selling prices (I don't anyway).  It's a consignment though so we'll just have to wait and see, it could be a while.

CornDogsCharger

That has to be the worst show board that I have ever seen!!  The only thing in the description is that it's a General Lee.

I agree with Corndog & K.C., that description is loony.

They might as well claim it's the original "Fast & Furious" Charger while they're at it.

generallee16

I was the one who originally bought that General Lee right from Warner Brothers. That sign is totally incorrect can't believe he got away with that one he is still celebrating. First he says the car is the only one believed to be owned by Warner Brothers. This is untrue as I was there and there were four cars. Then is says also used in the 2005 Movie trying to mislead you into believing that it may have also been used on TV also. There was nothing under the hood stating the car was jumped five times don't know what that was about. And lastly it was not matching #s or an RT. He sure fooled them.

Just when you think you have a good handle on car prices, something like this happens. I remember a six pack Superbird going for $500K at auction not too long ago, crazy - but fun to see.

I know right?  I still work occasionally for a classic auction house (not RM) and I went in there today and we were talking about some of craziness.

A12 Superbee

What's the general vibe on prices, on the way back up? Or is it just the top, rare cars bringing the big bucks and the rest is largely stable?

Right now it seems to be the top shelf cars but that Coronet is an interesting sidenote.  Why it?  The next couple of months will be worth watching I guess.
