8ga. wire "FLEET UPGRADE" on the cheap.

I picked up an "AMP Install Kit" off eBay for 14.95 (Free shipping.) with 18 ft. of blue and 4 ft. of clear 8 AWG wire. I also ordered a pair of pass through bulkhead weather proof grommets and 10 extra HD 8ga. connectors sized to match the back of the ALT gauge. (About 13.00 for both items.)
As it's a kit for installing a stereo amp. it includes one end of each 8 AWG wire with a connector factory installed, a matching weather proof fuse holder with a 60amp AFS fuse, 2 more 8 AWG connectors, tie wraps and some other 18 AWG wire for turning on/off the amp.
This all works out to about 30.00 for every thing needed to have a 60 amp protected Fleet Upgrade harness, much less cost than buying wire and bits of other what-nots part by part to have what's needed for the install. The 60amp fuse will work perfectly with a new OER brand ALT gauge that is also rated for 60amps I'll be installing with the kit. This all should work well with my stock wiring system and my 120amp Denso Alt. upgrade as the car won't ever draw the full 60amp anyway. (I have a 70 Charger.)
If your interested I can post links and pics as I install. The kit I got was close out priced but in searching I found several similar at comparable pricing. (Some still offer it but for 89.00.)
The Fleet Upgrade replaces the factory wire from the Alt. to the gauge and gauge to the start relay main 12V positive post and is highly recommended to eliminate overworking the factory bulkhead connections. I chose the pass through grommets over a bulkhead mounted terminal to eliminate connections but that is also an option.
Later if I add control relays for the headlights and/or things like the A/C-Heat blower the fuse can be replaced with a fused distribution block to feed the high draw items greatly reducing the power drawn into/through the dash.
I'm only pointing this out as I'd been putting it off mostly due to how fast the costs add up buying wire and parts individually!  :2thumbs:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17488_StreetWires-FB8.html  (These have free shipping on eBay from Sonic E. and they have other kits of similar pricing.)
(The extra connectors I got you could actually do without as 2 more are supplied in the kit.)

It's the little stuff that adds up as much as the big stuff.  I probably spent over 20k to 25k now last year....alot on little stuff....
