OEM Hurst shifters for Chrysler

Why do you think Chrysler wouldn't just have Hurst send them a regular Competition Plus shifter with the two bolt attachment for the handle?  I don't see the logic of spec'ing out that one bolt handle with the rubber insulators.  I'm guessing the rubber was there to reduce noise or vibration, two desirable qualities in a muscelcar.  ::)
Would it not have been cheaper to have the regular one?  The oem one must be sloppier for shifting, no?

The earliest versions of the Mopar Hurst shifter ('63-'65) did have the two-bolt handle.

I do believe the push-in handle was about noise/vibration. Sped up the assembly line too.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

They must make for sloppier shifts?
