I have a 1969 Dodge Charger with an assembly date of 01-22-69 and was just looking at the date code on the K member and the date code is 0179 1 which is January 17th of 1969 on the first shift.  Is this possible?  What I am asking, is it possible that a K member with the date code that I have listed be installed 5 days later in the car?  I always thought that the K member was made around 90-120 days prior to the car assembly.  Any help would be appreciated.  Also, does anyone have a picture showing where the production code is located on the K member, I could not find one.

terrible one

I am researching the same things are far as parts dates vs. assembly dates but below is a picture of where I found the date code on my k frame

Your K-Frame is dated 17th day of '69....correct.
Your scheduled production date of 1/22 does not mean that the car was built that day.....could even be weeks after that.....that was a scheduled day only.
Most k-frames on my stuff are usually dated weeks before the SPD - not months. You are probably ok.

The only thing I have ever seen stamped on a k-frame is the date and sometimes there is a coin welded on the front...usually stamped  with the same 2 digit number as shown on the build sheet.....depending on year etc.

Thanks all for the help, I looked all over for the coin with the (2) digit code and could not find one.  Does anyone know exactly where this would be located?

stamped directly in the ft of the K frame just above where the lower bracket attaches that goes to the lower radiator support

I was thinking the 'coin' did not appear until the 70 model year..... :scratchchin:
