Greetings All,

First question: Does anyone have a Superbird that came with 14" Rallye wheels and still has the correct original spare rim?  Can you post the part number off of it.  I recently received a question concerning this, and, since my car is a 14" rim car, I would like to know if I have the correct spare rim – mine was missing when I got the car.

Thanks,
Brennan

Interesting.  Would that be the last two digits of the parts catalog part number?

Also, cool that the car you linked to is a 999 car with 99520 as the J number.  I don't think I have that one on file.
Thanks,
Brennan

The blue car pictured above was a original 14 in six pack car picture of tire on this link

More Questions:  I don't see the "17" in any of the choices in the parts catalog - is this one of those situations like with the shocks where the part number in the book is not the same as the part number on the part?

The R and W lines had the following available according to the 1970 parts catalog:

14x5 Painted rims   3420976   (5)
14x5.5 Painted rims   3420977   (5)
14x5.5 Spare w/decal   2944395   (1)
14x5.5 Styled Class 1   2944252   (4)   Rallye
14x5.5 Styled Class 2   2944474   (4)   Magnum
14x6 Styled Class2   3461359   (4)   Magnum
14x6 Painted      3420978   (5)
15x6 Painted   HD   2944169   (5)
15x7 Painted      2944450   (5)
15x7 Styled Class 1   2944390   (5)   Rallye

So in theory, the cars should have received one of the nine options listed above.
There are ten lines of data but one is the spare only.

Possibilities 1 and 2: 14x5 and 14x5.5 painted rims
I have never seen a Superbird with body color painted steel 14" rims.  I suppose it is possible.  Does anyone know of a correct example?  Since the parts book shows a total of 5 for each car I assume that if you did get this option you would get a matching body color painted spare rim.  QUESTION MAY BE ANSWERED WITH LINK POSTED ABOVE.  STILL NOT EXACTLY SURE ON SIZE.

Possibility 3: 14x5.5 Rallyes
I know Superbirds came with this option.  My car and Al Wald's car both have the original 14x5.5 Rallyes.  Since the parts book shows a total of 4 for each car I assume that you got a black painted steel 14" wheel as a spare.  2944395?

Possibilities 4 and 5: 14x5.5 and 14x6 Magnums
I know Superbirds came with this option.  I have seen build sheets coded for them.  Again, since the parts book shows a total of 4 for each car I assume that you got a black painted steel wheel as a spare.  Note: the 14x6 wheels have a # next to part number meaning this part number first appears in this parts catalog.  Any insight on this?

Possibilities 6 and 7: 14x6 and 15x6 HD Painted rims
I have never seen a Superbird with either of these options.  Again the parts book shows a total of 5 per car so I assume that if you got this option you got a matching painted spare rim.

Possibility 8: Painted 15x7 steel wheels
I know this option was installed.  I have seen build sheets coded for it.  And, the spare was an identical body color painted rim hence the 5 per car listed.

Posibility 9: 15x7 Rallyes
I know this was available.  I have seen build sheets coded for this option.  What I am not certain about is that it shows 5 per car.  I thought the Rallye wheel cars got a black painted 15x7 steel wheel for a spare.  Anyone have insight on this?
