..$59,995...not bad. Dealerships will screw it up tho by tacking on 20K markup...but this means when they come up used they will be affordable!

That's a lot lower than I thought it would be.  I wonder what options are standard, and which ones push it closer to $70k?

Only $5k more than the Camaro ZL1 and the GT500.

True, the dealers will start with at least $20k & go from there. Then a few speculators will buy them & ask double like the Buick GNX in the 80's.

Maybe I'll sell my house & get one.

I'll prolly wait for a used one to pop up...they'll prolly still be 50K tho. They are putting the HC in Chargers and Cherekee's...if the Cherekee keeps it's AWD that might be a serious vehicle.

I wonder if the Hellcat is available for that new lease program.

Lease a Chally or Charger for a year & return it the next year for the new year's model for the same payments?

hatersaurusrex

Well I just officiallly went from 'I might get one' to 'I'm going to get one'

Now it's a question of timing...  I'll probably wait until 2016 to go all-in... but holy smokes that pricing just sealed the deal.

Let's find some politicians and bribe them into  them into causing a huge $20/gal oil crisis in about 2017 and also have them force insurance companies to triple the insurance on cars over 500 horsepower around the same time.

That way we can all get Hellcats drive the crap out of them for a couple of years, then kill the new-muscle revolution and force everyone into slow electrics.  Our cars go up 50x in value over the next 10-15 years and we all retire uber-rich.

Alternatively, we could just wait and that will probably happen on its own.

I have an unbearable urge to get an insurance quote for one... just for the hell of it.. In highschool i had a project that required me to get an insurance quote for an 09 srt8 challenger and my quote was 19k$ a year

Lord Warlock

The lease for a year program does not include SRT8 models, so I seriously doubt the hellcat will be available under that program.   I am glad to see the pricing was in the low 60s, that actually means it is a possibility if I wanted it bad enough.  May take liquidating more than I'd want to to get one, but that decision all depends on other factors right now.   It means there will be a lot more Hellcats on the road than there would be if they sold for 80k.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

Cooter

Let us not forget the uber stupid idiots that will pay way over sticker to set the market for these things....like they did when the Challenger came just to the first kid in the sandbox with the coolest toy.
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

Ghoste

Yeah, you can't completely blame the dealers for asking huge dollars over sticker, they know there are morons happy to give them the money.

SRT-440

Cooter is right...that's why best plan is to let the dust settle or buy used...the more I think about a car that puts down this kind of power, it might be safe to wait till the next production year after all the trans and rear end probs are repaired..LOL.

This is a better reason to wait than pricing - getting a first run anything is dicey.  I've owned two cars that were first run 'new' model years (not counting my '68 but that's a different animal) and both were riddled with 'beta' problems.

Granted the Hellcat isn't 'all new' but the go-fast parts are largely new territory - and weighing getting a used first-year model that the PO beat like a rented mule vs one with most of the bugs worked out is gonna factor large in when I get one of these

This price causes me grief.

I'm drooling over it like the rest but told self that I hope the price is around 50K or over 70K.

At 50K I would make a move but at 70K I won't.   So that puts me on the fence. -- :rotz: VS :yesnod:

Another problem I have is when I decided to get my 09 srt it was because the 6sp trans was available. Had it not been I would have passed.

I do like the manual trans but am not sure if that is the best choice for this car and it's future value.

Why does life throw these curves balls at us?

As for waiting for the bugs to be worked out of a first run issue--- I think that was of more concern many years ago. Design and manufacturing these days has changed for the better in that regard and warranty recall fixes take care of the bugs. :Twocents:

SRT-440

I was hoping over $70K too so I would stop thinking about it...but the first run WILL be over $70K thanks to our lovely dealerships...but the HP war is just getting started...GM and Ford will be firing back soon...a year from now we may be able to buy a 808 HP SRT8.  :smilielol:

Thank you sir, I did not know.

That eliminates us...for now.

There were several Hellcats' & Chargers' down @ PIR this week.  Tuesday was the start of a 3 day media blitz.

Pretty cool that all the new reviews/etc. will have been performed right here across the river.  I just wish I would have taken the Charger over there.

ws23rt

Since the price is out has anyone ordered one?  Or can they be ordered yet?

How's this for typical!

Attended an all Mopar show yesterday @ a Chrysler dealership.  I asked a salesman about the car & he had no idea what I was talking about!

One of the best things to come from Pentastar in a long time @nd this dude didn't have a clue what I was talking about.   :rotz:

99% of all car salesmen know virtually nothing about the product they are selling.
