405182 - it's listed as originally selling from my college-days hometown of Columbia, Missouri, although I've heard the original owner was from Arkansas.  Whether the car sold from Columbia Dodge or was dealer-traded, who knows.

There's a few things which have been changed out over the years, although it's very well optioned for sure.  There's also a note in the spreadsheet about the fender tag almost certainly being a repro though -- but if the original Broadcast Sheet is present, all the options could be confirmed anyway.

Cool car, but IMHO they're asking strong money in the current market even with it being a SE, other options & unusual color.




P.S.  There's at least 10 SE Daytonas, not seven as listed in the ad; and I'm sure a couple more would surface if we had all the cars' information.

I wonder if it is an early built car. I noticed it has a 68 shifter knob. My 69 (Charger, not Daytona... I wished) was built in Aug of 68, and it had 68 shifter knob, and black button door handles on it (before I fixed it up), it now has the 69 parts since it is not all original anyways. When were Daytonas built? Sorry if that is a simple question, I just don't know a lot about Daytona's.

With only one exception, Daytona production at Hamtramck started in late April 1969 and ran through late June of that year.  None of the cars "should" have had black button door handles, although your August '68 is certainly within the window when that trait was still common.

The "1968 shifter knob" issue you referenced is somewhat of a misnomer.  While it's anything but a steadfast rule, you will find quite a few late-production 1969 model cars/Chargers which have the chrome console automatic shift knob.  There could be examples of unrestored Daytonas with woodgrain knobs, but none of the unrestored cars I've ever seen had the woodgrain version.  Several restored Daytonas now sport the woodgrain knob, but restored cars aren't as dependable for establishing original patterns.  Personally, I'd be more inclined to have a chrome auto knob than a woodgrain for use on a Daytona or any other mid- late- '69  - but that's just me. 

No harm in asking the questions you did, as some of this stuff isn't common knowledge even for seasoned Mopar fans.

Yes, I have the original broadcast sheet and the car is a numbers matching car. NO options were added or changed. In as far as erroneous information others may comment about relative to my car, I am sure this stems from a certain person wanting copies of all of my pertinent numbers related items on the car just to make up the plastic VIN tag for the door. Needless to say what I told him to do. I have been aware of numbers and document gathering being funneled to a certain individual who profits off that information for many years now. Apparently, they think Daytona owners are dumb enough to be tricked out of copies of their broadcast sheets! I have also read in several publications that a certain numbers hero has said that all Daytona fender tags end in either EN1 or EN2. This simply is NOT true! I have many examples of Daytona tags that end in END, as does my original tag.
Another point- there were 7 US and 3 Canadian SE Daytonas built making them rare indeed when comparing production numbers to Hemi equipped versions. How far do we go with my car? I did change my mind about selling it, 10 years from now $245k will seem like a real bargain for a 1 of 1 on several accounts concerning the options my car carries.
To my knowledge all Daytonas were produced with the chrome shift knob, red pie pan on the air cleaner, and I have never seen one with black door handle buttons. Mine are chrome.

i'm not seeing who or what you're setting straight, but the people you typically run into here are fanatical about the aero cars and only seek to help each other learn all that we can about these special machines. i've yet to see any of the old guard here try to deceive anyone or profit from shared information. you will not find a more knowledgeable group of wing car fans anywhere on the planet. hopefully you'll join in and become another one of us oddballs.

Welcome to the site.    As an owner of a bunch of Daytona's through the years I would like to clarify a few things based on what I have, have had and have seen. There are actually at least 4 Canadian SE's ....I currently own one (originally from Ontario) and used to own another (originally from BC). A friend has the third one (originally from BC) and there was a Quebec SE as well. There may be others.....they keep popping up! Two of the 4 I have owned had chrome knobs, two were wood knobs. I do agree that it seems most I have seen that were deemed to be original, were chrome knobs. Same agreement on the door handle buttons. After quickly checking just 2 tags - One was END the other EN2.
I hope you get every cent you are asking for....but I am biased

I have never heard of that dealer, not sure that dealer ever existed.

Car 90 on the list, one up from my car on the list and by VIN went to a dealer in Binghamton, NY not that far from me, ironic!
I wonder if that is the Daytona rumored to be in Cortland. NY somewhere. That car was supposed to be black with a red interior and the rear window plug Swiss cheesed with rust. I know several people who have seen this car.

Sure matches the description I was given back in the late '80's I remember being told it had a red stripe. Has Charger script on the sail panel so not an SE. Gotta be super rare in this color combo
