Good thing you got rid of that filler on the quarter seam. Lead is waay better on there since the seam is too deep for plastic filler.
if the car is as good as you say on the underside, I'd strip it with the grinding wheels, and spray some epoxy on it yourself.
so you save a big buck on the blasting part wich you can spend on further body work.
This way your car gets a full respray, you know whats under the paint since you did it yourself.
i might consider spraying undercoating  on the underside for extra protection.

I blasted my 69 completely and the sand really gets everywhere. if you do that you'll need to strip it down complete and i mean complete...

I've heard lead is prone to cracking due to body flex and the flux can eat it's way through the metal over time and cause a further mess as well.

I do lead soldering on some scale RC tank parts (not electronics but the modeling) and if I don't wash the flux it will destroy all my brass and steel parts, in a matter of days even.  I've seen exacto blades turn to piles of rust over night.

True, the flux corrodes fast. In areas around the lead seam you can create surface rust just overnight After using the body file to straigten out the lead, I media blasted the surrouding areas again before epoxy priming everything.

Now its almost ready for primer.   Soda blasting changed to glass blasting (its quicker and dont need so much cleaning than soda).

Its cost few hundreds more that i think but they did great work!   But your right about the mess!  i taped all holes with plastic film. but the dust find the way everywhere. It take 5hours to clean the car. 

Luckily there wasnt any surprises   just few pin holes.

I dont know.  there is lot of reproduction parts anyway. I thinks both quarters, trunk floor, and rear valance looks new also.  But what is great is that the panels are well installed. Except roof and quarter seam.

yes ,        of the 9370  , XS29 ,  charger   R/Ts built in 1970  ....  1199 had the M25 wide sill mouldings ,

There is some progress



One layer epoxy primer and little bit sanding. And you can see black carbon fiber putty.  Next i spread soft putty that easier to sand. And i think that going to take a while when it is ready for paint.  spread grind spread grind..etc

Christmas came early    

And bad news is that my Ram truck not passed annual inspection and i have to repair it outdoor because i cant bring charger to the rain.

I have bought 2L more filler   Grinding feels boring at times.

And one thing that solve out is that i got my charger running as it should

When i bought it i ad 20L gasoline and i think it will be fine because it run old gasoline someway.  But it back fire at while and runs like it not firing all sylinders.

I have took all gas out and ad new one, Now it runs nice idle and with no backfire.

There was 60L gas, my friends at work have drove all the old fuels with no problems

Hello all.

Now i have taken the charger to the painter.

Painter told me that he is going to spread thin layer of putty all over the car because sides of the putty are difficult to get straight. I hope that all my work are worth something.
And i have cleaned my garage a few evenings, It´s nice to have all that dust out of my garage.
What do you guys like my wheel/tire setup?

Final blocking before the primer. I hope that the rest goes easy and not take so long. Summer is almost here

I cant wait that i see it painted   I think i go with black acrylic and couple layer of clear coat.

Charger have starting problems,  its take very long to start.   I wonder if the needle valve stays open and the gasoline returns back to tank.   I have to clean them.

nah , vented fuel system on these old cars , the fuel is just vaporising,
all your hard work shows now ,
looks great , go with a modern paint , you wont like how much you have to polish it to keep it shiny ,

Hello.

I think that the needle valves o-rings are guilty for hard starting

I think that i have to change all seals in the carburetor. I have already bought repair kit.

I went to see that how are we doing

And that was from yesterday.  I hope we have black paint next week.

Everything looks to be coming along nicely!  Yep, a carburetor rebuild is in order!

A few threads back, you asked us about liking the wheels.  They look great and this will be a sharp Charger when it gets back on the road!
