Mopar John

We installed a telescopic antenna on our Superbird during the restoration.
There is no fixed mast antenna listed in the 1970 Plymouth parts books.

Looks to be telescoping........ I can see a slight reflection of light at the top of the bottom shaft and then the thinner top shaft

The solid antenna was 'new' for the 1972 model year, see http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/serviceHighlights/1972/1972%20sh%20p33.jpg

That is 100% correct.

Wasn't it Metro that had the proper antenna's? I bought some from Frank Badalson - not sure if he still sells them.

Mopar John

Bill,
I will send you a pm on an antenna that you might be interested in?

Is 70 charger the same as 70 Superbird telescope antennae :shruggy:

The bezel is likely different though?  (just clarifying, I know we're just talking about the mast here)

maxwellwedge

Yes - The masts for the different car models are all the same by year - the bezels are unique to the different models.  :2thumbs:

nascarxx29

I got one here a original 57 inch mast

Anyone care to guess what a nice almost new "teley" antenna mast is worth?
Its the correct part for a 70 B body.
wingless now, but still around.

For reference the super long antenna is called the "Montana" mast from previous experience. Used in high elevation and for isolated areas. The mast for 1971 and older should be telescopic. The reproductions are OK but I find the chrome peels off them depending on the climate where the car lives. I buy them at swap meets or scrap yards. The reproduction also can be expensive. On all my cars I am continually replacing the fixed antennaes that they usually have.

odcics2

For AM, the longer the antenna, the better it'll pull in stations, especially at night.   :2thumbs:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

billssuperbird

How tall is the Superbird antenna when it is all the way down.  :scratchchin:

Bill,you didn't go back far enough,24". :icon_smile_big:
