69 OUR/TEA

I keep finding NOS 69 center sections/or they keep finding me !!! Last year bought an NOS 69 center in the orig box and left/right headlight surrounds/bezels,this year another NOS 69 center in the orig box !!! O.K,now I'm an official grill hoarder !!!!  :eek2:
I was going to pick up the woodgrain for my dash, but BE/A was not there, again, and Herbs was all mismatched colors/grain,so had a couple extra bucks needing to be spent !!!

TUFCAT

Damn, I missed seeing you this year Paul!  Good thing there's always next year :2thumbs:

When I stopped by there, just Bill440,Just69(Chris),Troy and Oldmoparz were there.Stopped by the survivor tent a couple of times to say hi to Mark, but he wasn't around either. Was hoping to meet up with you again to chat alittle.

I was amazed at some of the asking prices for what i considered junk. There were a few deals there. But i use the term lightly. I did see a 69 grill. Just the plastic for 1800..... really makes me consider selling one of my complete grills. If $1800 gets you just plastic, i cant imagine what a complete grill with harness goes for!
I stopped by the dodgecharger.com tent around 1130 i think, nobody was home. I left before 1 as i was cooked. I walked through the members cars and wow, they are perdy!!!!

How big a piece of grill do you need? I have some broken sections from a 68 center grill.

I'll measure up what need, it's not a very big piece I have missing. Do you have some pieces laying around?

I have to agree some of the asking prices for what looked like junk were rediculous! People think they have gold sometimes. But, can any one tell me why E-body Shaker hoods have $5000-$6000 price tags on them?? Saw several, made my rear end pucker up a few times!!

For the last 16 years, truck Dana's everywhere. This year, none.

I saw that grill,it was MINT !!!!,it was just the plastic as you said,no trim, grill frame etc.The guy that I bought my NOS center is the one who had it there Thurs night, his price was $1,200.The vendor you saw bought it Thurs night, stuck it at his spot Fri/Sat for the $1,800.
If you truly want a part,it's best to go there by Thurs noon and scan the swap meet.

A little birdy told me BE&A won't go to that show anymore because of theft. He was happy to boast about making $80k at that show and getting $800 worth of parts lifted. I'd like to buy some stuff there too, but if you don't go to the show so I can see the stuff and talk about the quality. I won't buy another part from US Cartool after his body casters failed and almost ruined my car. Anyone looking for a set of reinforced body casters by me?

That's the reason nearly all the vendors are sleeping/camping in their swap spaces these days.  I personally know one (fairly large) vendor who hired three friends for the purpose of selling, but mostly "sticky finger" watching.  :eek2:

On a positive note, the same friend told me most vendors have seen a decline in people willing to "take the chance" of lifting a part....as "everybody's watching out for one another".....which is a good thing. :icon_smile_cool:

I was hoping BE&A would be there too so I could see & maybe buy a few things I needed. I suppose they have their reasons for not bringing their stuff including the cost of theft, transporting it, setting it up & breaking it down. It wouldn't be too difficult to set up a vending space to be more secure, yet still display your inventory. You don't need armed guards, a full staff for security or cameras. Many other vendors & ones like Legendary Interiors, put seats & door panels out that you can see & touch, but not walk away with. Yeah, that stuff is larger & would be hard to conceal inside your Hanes jogging away with it, but mounting things on peg board or the folding wire racks lets you see what you are getting.   :Twocents:

I heard a number of vendors with the same complaint.  :rotz:
A lot of stuff wasn't even on display this year for that very reason.  Vendors like R/T Specialties must get killed by these F'n piece of shite A'holes!
These are the same pieces of shite that screw it up for everyone, and then complain about it.

Homerr

Sounds like the Syreal 70 rent-a-cop has more to do next year!

Ghoste

I could be wrong but didn't BEA also skip the Nats last year?  Are they possibly just not going to the shows for other reasons too?  (and I have heard of the theft being an issue at Carlisle before- that fairgrounds isn't too far from Carlisle's sketchy areas)

FJ5WING

Im not sure what little birdie said what but the horse said theres no gain in going with a big trailer and a handful on people on the payroll when the internet gits it done.

I can understand how that much theft occurs at BE&A tents because of the amount of draw it has. Ive never walked up to Mikes tent and not have to wiggle into a spot.
wingless now, but still around.

I agree with this, good idea Bob. Yes, it would take some planning & designing, but a more secure display could be done. Lots of vendors have items strapped to pegboards displayed in a very nice manner which makes the items look very attractive. Leave inventory in the trailer, remove as sales are generated.
Mike has some nice stuff. He was missed at Carlisle, lots of people asked where his vendor spot was.  :yesnod:

Before going to Carlisle I emailed Mike (from BE/A) to see if he would be at this years Carlisle and The Mopar Nats.
He said, "Sorry John, no I will not, got tired of all the stealing."
I looked for him at the Mopar Nats last year and they were not there.
There seemed to be quite a few vendors who were not at Carlilse. The manufacturer's midway was much smaller than usual. I hope this will not be the trend toward less vendors in attendance at the major shows.
I enjoy seeing and touching the new parts I am interested in buying. It is also nice to save some money on shipping.

Its nice to touch it I agree. But they could still have the pegboard displays (like Bill said) and keep all of the merchandise on their trailer. Mancini and other vendors are doing it this way.  :2thumbs:

or, we may have to be forced to shop from a "parts list"....and they'll bring it out items if we want to have a look or buy. :shruggy:  I hope not.
