Can someone with a '71 or '72 get a few good close up pics of the heater contol valve for me. I need to see how it is mounted to the inner fender and exactly how the cable is supposed to be hooded up. And I wanna make sure I dont mount it backwards in the hoses ::)  My car was missing it when I bought it, so I have nuthing to use for referance. Thanks

the pic I posted once doesn't help I think... Let me search it

I will take some pics of my car.  For now,  all I can provide is a scan of that page from the service manual showing how to hook up the A/C system wires and hoses. I've also included a scan of where the vacuum attaches to the valve.

I'll have to take some pictures of my valve under the hood this weekend.

Hope this helps anyway.

I will take a pic of my 72 tonight. Still owe you a pic of my dashpad from just dashes also.
Charger 71, where is the vacuum reservoir located? The one on my 71 SE is missing and I'm in the process putting the car back together. Any pics would help.

That pic from the shop manual doesnt help. I have a cable controled water valve, and what I need to see is how it is put together and how it is mounted to the inner fender.

My car is the vacuum operated valve.  The canister for it is under the horns on the passenger side.

My service manual shows pictures for the the wire operated valve, but it shows a Challenger setup.  Probably not much help.

Anyway,  I can still photograph the valve for reference.

Here is a pic showing the hook up of my water valve.  The one on the car is leaking, but I am replacing that one when I get a chance.

Hope it gives you idea where and how it is oriented...

The vacuum canister is mounted under the battery.  The hoses on it are facing to the rear of the car.

OK, just came up from the shop. My 71 with A/C has the water control valve like 71Charger has.
My 72 non A/C has no water control valve mounted on the inner fender. According to my 71 FSM the bottom cable on the controller for the temperature controls a door. The door regulates how much air passes through the heater core and then into the heating system. I traced the temperature control cable from the controller and it disappears up into the ductwork under the dash on the passenger side.
My FSM shows no heater control valve in the engine bay for the non A/C system.

I need pics that show which hoses go on what side of the heater control valve too. I got a ton of engine pics, but all of them do not show good enough pics of the heater control valve so I can see how it is mounted, or clear enough pics so i know which hose goes where on the valve. That, or it is a vacum type valve which mine is not. This is flustrating. :-\

it's been a while since I've checked in - attached are some pics of the heater control valve with cable from my 72 SE

check them out and let me know if you need another view

btw, I've put around 50 miles on the rebuilt 440 and it's running sweeeet!  with the snow & salt back on the roads in WI, no driving for another week or so

if you need to look over some stuff on the Charger, come on down one of these weekends
