I'm 29....no kids (yet)....no wife (yet)......I learned my lessons from my less fortunate friends who have taken the plunge, and subsequent divorces in some cases.

Hi5 to that...   :yesnod:

I turned 30 a few months ago.  No kids, no wife & live with girlfriend of 4.5 years...  Learned the same lessons from my poor friends with all their kids, no time, no money and all have split from the relationships they had with their children's mothers!   :rotz:

20's happen, ya get married, buy a house...30's happen you have kids, 40's its still all about kids, upgrading the house...50's roll around, a divorce, and University tuition, :brickwall: haha, but that's just me, I still don't have a Charger!

Buy one when youre young!

funny how life works out isn't it    :scratchchin:   same situation exept for the uni costs.   "we " could never afford anything to do with cars always something else more important , funny enough after she split I seem to have money to burn now    :yesnod:   hello charger    :icon_smile_big:

still say save as much as you can and buy a "runner" get some driving and fun in while you can  the rebuild ALWAYS takes longer than expected  :Twocents:

Not always does life happen that way.  I am into my 40s, never married, no kids, no house payment to make....

Seems like there's a few of us 84-85 babies kickin around here.

Same boat, 29, no wife, no kids.  Charger, and a house that's being paid for though...   :2thumbs:

I could live without a charger but not without my kids!!!

A little off topic but I will say marriage and kids are way better than any Charger.

It's okay to have both  (Families and Chargers)

A little off topic

Who cares about the original topic now?  This guy is never gonna buy one anyway  :nana:

Someone else said it best =>  :horse:

Let's be real here for a second...  Finding the "RIGHT" car for you, if not a project, is at least a 20-30k investment, something OP just doesn't have right now.  In fairness, a lot of us (including myself) have been there.  As time moves forward, it looks like our best bets for gen-2's is to just buy the best project car you can find within your budget, and make it your own.  Many will come and go, but that time spent waiting, and looking for the right one to come along may just end up costing you in the long run.  Hell, Baldwin is doing it for a hell of a lot less than any of us ever thought one could build a Charger for...

Shame this topic has turned into the smelly bastard child of the "Cars For Sale" section of our forum.

I agree and relate fully to the above statement

Honestly, it'd help if Ben would tell us what he likes/ dislikes about the cars that he's passing up.  Does he want a red car or a blue car?  Black interior or green :eek2:?  Big block or small block?  Auto or manual?  We've been kept in the dark on those items.  All that has been mentioned is that he wants a Charger, for $10k, dependable, and he wants it now.  Under these guidelines, I'd have had one 25+ pages ago.  Some of those 73/74's looked  :drool5:  I think there was even a 70 and a 71 I would have been all over. :yesnod:

Hey Benfro-- Is there any current update on your search for your dream car?
There has been a great deal of input from many people trying to help you. Changing your plans would be completely understandable.

I have learned a lot from this thread as many others may have as well. It's a hobby and interest that can't be indulged by desire alone.

As others have said issues with timing in ones life for this sort of thing trumps desire.

Since you seem reluctant to push to buy a car is a signal to your self.  Listen to the practical voice sitting on your shoulder. :Twocents:

TUFCAT

I think he should by a decent A-body... to cut his teeth on and DRIVE.   He may not even like the idea of having an old car.  A nice driver quality A-body can be bought for about half of what he's looking to spend for a rough, hardly respectable looking Charger.  :Twocents: :Twocents:

ws23rt

A good point----that he may not like driving a car this old as a daily.  We grew up with them and perhaps see them quite differently as a driver.

He seems dead set on a charger.  I think he should go back to being open to a 3rd gen.

It's on AutoTrader, so it'll get less traffic than Kijiji or Craigslist.  Either way it shows you can at least get a decent gen-3 at a 'nut-up, or shut up' price.  Hell, if it was earlier in the year, I'd have gotten that instead of the Cutlass.  Going into the winter with 3 cars is not ideal lol.

Sorry guys I haven't been getting notifications on my phone for some reason  :shruggy: I want to go see a owner of two Cudas a R/T challenger a old drag roadrunner and a 70 R/T  man those cars were so nice he has been a great help trying to find me a car and he gave me about 10 leads to go and follow up on so I'm gonna get on that today

I saw someone post asking about what exactly I'd like and if I could have it I'd have a

68 or 70

Color doesn't matter (will get pained anyway)

Either auto on the floor or 4 speed

383 400 or 440(other engines would be ok if it's like that 70 R/T I was trying to bid on where I would just change the engine to a 440 or a 400 anyway)

Other than that I'm ok with any mechanical work but I don't particularly like body work  :P

I have been looking into 71 and 72 rallyes again just to see if I can find anything really cool but haven't seen anything recently

Again sorry guys for the lack of replies,  i was trying at first to let the thread die out because I didn't want to waste anyone's time anymore but I also don't want to just let you guys reply and me not reply back  :2thumbs:
