They filled the front FINS on the grill. Interesting.  :slap:

Okay. I wasn't being sarcastic I really didn't know if there was such a thing as a "grille find".

On my 75 Mustang I ran a piece of new window screening behind the grille and it looked awesome. I did it because I had relocated the blinkers to behind it and didn't want all that orange plastic visible.

Currently undergoing 413/727 swap after I finally beat the 318 til it lost a headgasket. The kicker is the 318 still cranks and runs like nothing is wrong. I love my ca

Another thing to add. If you buy a 3rd generation then you will have your money and effort tied up into it. Then a deal will come around on the car you really want and you wont have the money ready!

I made this mistake with boats. Picked up a nice 17 ft Boston Whaler. Then a deal on a bigger one came up and i did not have the money to get it. And ofcourse the wife said you just got a boat!  My error.

You can always paint it afterwards.  :shruggy:

If I was looking for a '68, this one would get strong consideration.

Original paint & a 26" radiator (a/c), can't beat that.  You know exactly what you're getting with this one, it's hard to hide anything having original paint, body!

QuoteNo 3rd gen will ever make you stop wanting a 2nd gen.
Agreed!

QuoteCut out the years long regret ahead of you and get the 2nd gen. Getting a 3rd gen will just add a step to an already stressful process.
also agreed but Ben is working on a limited budget and we all know you can't get much when it comes to a 2nd gen (take for example, http://www.ebay.com/itm/261573281652?forcerRptr=true&item=261573281652&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:ONA:US:1123 looks like a solid project but it's just that) and he seems to like the 3rd gen cars. He could buy a 3rd gen now, enjoy it and make improvements and when he has some more money saved he can sell the 3rd gen to help fund the 2nd gen.

I also think Ben should take his time and look at lots of cars before he buys one.

Thank you for all the advice you do have a good point thier 3rd gens are quite a bit less expensive, and I promise I have looked at quite a few Chargers  :2thumbs:

Except me and my 3rd gen. I feel that there are better/upgraded/modernized parts but not a better car.

Are you sure you don't want the 68 318/auto car? You can upgrade after. A bit of work shouldn't be a deal breaker, especially if the price is adjusted accordingly.

I know it's a "little" out of the price range.... like a BIG "little" bit out .... but as an asset to hold value over time, not many of these around in this shape ?

The only part bugs me, is that for an "unrestored original".... have a look at the rear valence photo ??
Are those mudded over corner caps I see ?
or,
are the 70's somehow different and without corner caps ?

Sometimes good to look at everything for sale, even if out of your price-range, gain general knowledge on spotting stuff ?

I mean this 68 318/auto.

That is a nice car I need to contact the seller again I did a couple times and he wouldn't budge from 20000 which seems like a lot to me for a car that needs to be watered down  :shruggy:

I really don't like when people water down thier cars /bikes when selling  :P

And which does not have a title? They "can help you get one" but do not promise to get one for you, and if it would be so easy, one would think they had already got one to help sell? Doesn't most states require one, well I do not know as a foreigner..

Edit;

I believe that some states do not require / issue a title to cars of a certain age.  I am pretty sure New Hampshire is one of those states.  I also think that either Alabama or Georgia is another one (I don't recall which of these two states an old car I used to have came from).

It is generally not hard, in Texas at least, to get a new title.  With the car I got from either Alabama or Georgia, I went into he man DMV in Austin, showed bill of sale and my ID and viola, title in the mail a few weeks later.  No big deal, wasn't even bonded.  With a car I got from New Hampshire it was a litlle bigger of a deal.  The DMV in Houston did not seem to understand.  They insisted I had to have bonded title.  they were very concerned that the last title was from another state (a title for vintage vehicles state), last owner was in New Hampshire (a non-title for vintage vehicles state), and it was quite the mess.  Took a long time to finally get my way.

I think it largely depends on the mood of the person on the other side of the counter that day.

Careful.  To title an out of state no-title car In Ohio, you need a notarized bill-of-sale and the last registration.  No if, ands, or buts........

Always check with your state.
