It doesn't say it has a 6 Pack, just that it has the 6 Pack hood, otherwise known as the Ramcharger hood.  Looks like a decent car.

You are correct.  I read quickly and therefore misread.  There is a good example of why posting links still has its advantages!

If I was going to do it id like to start with a pretty solid 71 then add the trim doors hood ect that go with a R/T to make a R/T clone  :P kind of a budget 71 R/T build (but I am open to real R/Ts)

I tried looking on AMD for the doors and hood but I cant find them  :shruggy:

I cant decide 2nd gen vs 71 or 72 rallye its just such a hard decision.

The 2nd gens have all the sinister look and the history and popularity behind them

But the 3rd gens are more sporty (to me at least) a heck of a lot more affordable but do not have near the original bad ass charger persona to me their kinda like the 2nd gens more athletic younger brother

I mean I can get this 70 for 15000 (called owner)

But I can get this 72 rallye for 16000 (again called owner) and its absolutely immaculate and has a 340 4 speed

Sorry the 68 got away, that would have been a fantastic deal. When things seem to good to be true they usually are.....

I am looking around for a 69 or a 68 (2nd choice) and check search tempest a couple times a day in hopes that a great deal will pop up. I want to buy one semi locally, i.e. buy in person instead of sight unseen which was my last mistake which didn't turn out too bad anyways, I bought a 69 RTSE off eBay, I was disappointed when I got it, kept it for a few years, did some work on it and then sold it for around the same amount that I bought it for, the buyer made a general lee out of it.

I know a lot of these will either be too far away, cost too much or need too much work but will throw them up for you anyways:

This has been said before but I think it needs reiteration: Less talk, more action. If you're going to buy a car, a 2nd gen Charger, a 3rd gen Charger, or a freaking Mercury Topaz, DO IT! You have spent likely countless hours scouring CL ads, etc. etc. So make a decision.

If you're going to keep pasting links and ask "Hey guys! Should I buy this?....should I look at this?...should I etc, etc, etc.", then I would advise you stop posting, look & listen, research what guys are talking about, and THEN get serious. Take the advice from the last 10,000 posts that are on this thread. Use that knowledge/advice and apply it to a purchase.

We all acknowledged you're young, a novice, whatever. But this is becoming like my girlfriend who takes 4 hours to decide which high heels to wear out.... :brickwall:

AMD does not make the '71 R/T doors and hood.

Although at one time, they threatened to make them. :brickwall:

...then offering $5k for this one doesn't seem to far off the mark.  He may not take it, but there is only one way to know.
I hope you meant $15K ?? - I think $5K would just make him mad.  :shruggy:

How about this plan - Buy a nice third gen and drive it, polish it up, enjoy it now. If you come to the realization that you want a second gen, save a little money and sell your third gen to purchase it. I have been slooooowly restoring my car for the last 6 years, and kind of wished I would have started with a driver that I could have worked on here and there. Good luck!

I was looking at that '68 on the Daytona craigslist. That car is the rustiest charger ever!Needs every single panel replaced even inner roof! They must have kept it underwater.Do you guys think it's saveable or far too gone?
Number matching and comes with most panels needing replacing.Owner said it is complete but he also says solid car so who knows!Ain't solid that needs inner roof, floors, quarters etc.
Wish i could do the work myself, would like to save her!

I wouldn't bother offering more on the other one, I'm 80% sure its gone to someone else and even if it isnt how could you trust him now anyway.

I think you need to make up your mind exactly what you want?  Seems to me that you want a second generation. And if you buy 3rd generation you will not be a 100% happy with it. I have a very casual friend that has two very nice 3rd generation cars. But i know he has always wanted a 68.

I am a new guy here but just my two cents!

I agree.  At this point I don't really care what the guy would take for the 68, I wouldn't buy the car from him.  Or rather, get into negotiations and traveling on his word.  Would likely be a waste of time.  And I hate buying things from scoundrels.

Nice to have you here and thatnks for the input

I don't know I'm kinda wierd for some reason I feel like I like both but for different reasons

I feel the 3rd Gens are more of the sports car version of the  charger a bit smaller a bit lighter and a bit younger

But the 2nd Gen just have all that great nostalgia and recognition and that sinister look that makes you want to cry and do a burnout at the same time   :D

The way I see it is if a absolutely perfect 71 or 72 rallye pops up I'll go for it but if not then I'm going to get the best 2nd Gen I can afford  :icon_smile_big:

We've beat this part to death. No 3rd gen will ever make you stop wanting a 2nd gen. No 2nd gen would ever make me think of giving up my 3rd gen. Cut out the years long regret ahead of you and get the 2nd gen. Getting a 3rd gen will just add a step to an already stressful process. Your tag still says "Looking For The One" and it's not a 3rd gen in the pic you use for your profile.

It doesn't matter what's sportier or has more "badass nostalgia" you want a 2nd gen because you want it. The justification comes after.

Agreed!

also agreed but Ben is working on a limited budget and we all know you can't get much when it comes to a 2nd gen (take for example, http://www.ebay.com/itm/261573281652?forcerRptr=true&item=261573281652&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:ONA:US:1123 looks like a solid project but it's just that) and he seems to like the 3rd gen cars. He could buy a 3rd gen now, enjoy it and make improvements and when he has some more money saved he can sell the 3rd gen to help fund the 2nd gen.

I also think Ben should take his time and look at lots of cars before he buys one.
