That is a nice car very clean but I think I'm stuck on the 68-72 chargers hey what do you think of that blue charger?

What are some specific things you guys look for when looking at these cars? Thank you

Love that Valiant!!!!

And for 4500 that is a nice looking car to start

That Valiant is awesome but I don't think it is a 1969.  I believe the 69 has the straight grill (no body insert).  This actually looks like a 68 to me.  Maybe early builds had that front end, but I don't think so and have never seen one.  And $9,950 is just too much I think, the Satellite is the one for $4,500.

Wow that looks like mine, only with more of the original colors.  The fender tag on mine says the vinyl top was originally white, while my current one is black.  It's nice looking but 13k starting bid?  Yikes.

Yeah.  I wrote it a bit short but that is why I kept both links in.  Satellite is 4500.  I would really consider a trade w one of my chargers for that valiant if it's as clean as it appears.  I like there looks.  You could be right about the grill.  I don't know enough about them to comment.

I was actually going to share your link.  Your car looks a lot better than this car.  13k?   They might have paid 5+ k for the new paint but that doesn't change what it is.

I have been looking for a 69 valiant for a long time.  I love those cars.  I have wanted to replace my old one for many years now.  The shape of all of them is awesome, but for me it must be a 69, because of the grill and tail lights.  Such a nice looking car.

One of the only two photos I have of the car, the other is just as bad....

Ask for pix of the rear window, trunk, rear frame rails, and the rear cross member.  That's where these cars like to rust out at.

The B5 Blue interior is one of my favorite things about my car. That's me tho. I was going to say "my lord, are those seats from A BUICK?!"  :smilielol:

Seems like someone is always trying to talk me into going buckets. You'd have to take my bench over my cold dead body.  :coolgleamA:

But again, that's me. Do you have a preference between bench and buckets? I'm not sure how easy it would be to swap a bucket car to a bench, it might be a snap, but it's worth consideration.

And that posting was deleted? Did you get it? I can't even look at it.

Currently undergoing 413/727 swap after I finally beat the 318 til it lost a headgasket. The kicker is the 318 still cranks and runs like nothing is wrong. I love my ca

I was just looking at that car.  Has some cool features. V21 hood treatment.  Nice interior and body looks good.
Wonder if it's a stripe delete. Is there a way to know on a lynch road car?

Here's a cheap 72, interior looks trashed, but says it runs and drives.... maybe tune it up, replace the interior, ditch the cragers/hijackers... you'd have a decent driver.

Edit.... just found this one, if the owner would come down 1.5k or so, I'd be real interested in this one...

Nice lookin car man  :2thumbs: hey now that you have your second gens do you think it would be better for me to buy a nicer 3rd or a bit less of a 2nd Gen and then work on it?

QuoteNice lookin car man  2thumbs hey now that you have your second gens do you think it would be better for me to buy a nicer 3rd or a bit less of a 2nd Gen and then work on it?

That's hard to say. You WILL have to put more money into buying a 2nd gen, and it seems parts are more expensive for a 2nd gen. The Rallye I pictured after buying it, putting in new interior and making a few repairs I had $3900 in it (that was 2009 prices), but sold it in 2011 for $6600. So I enjoyed it a while and made a few dollars on it, so it was worth it. My 68, I bought it a year and a half ago, gave $4000 for it, and after all my buying/selling/trading parts, I got new floor pans installed, restored the grill, and dash, have a engine and trans to go in it, and at the moment, I rebuilding the frontend. As of today I got about $5700 in it and still like quit a bit of work and a few more grand before its finished (building a nice driver, not a show car).

I know it sounds cliche, but just continue searching and buy the most you can for your money. Probably 'best bang for the buck' you probably need to consider a 3rd gen (which I love and am a big fan of), like you have seen in several links on this thread, they are very affordable, and leave you room to put some money in them. With that being said, it sounds like you really want a 2nd gen, and if you do... you can find one, just take your time, wait on the right car. The main thing with 2nd gens is buy the most complete car you can... parts are high, so the more thats there, is the less you have to look for and spend. They are still out there, and they are still affordable, they just take a while to find. Follow every lead you get, I spent a year plus looking around for a project when I bought my 68.

Good luck,
Jason

Thank you very much for all your input it really does help and I got to be honest I think I'm getting to be just about even I like the 71-72 rally and r/t cars they are just as nice to me I think (kinda on the fence)  I'm getting close and to me I think right now the right answer is to go with the less expensive 3rd Gen and have fun with it vs spending all my money into just getting the poor 2nd Gen into good drivable condition

I still say that you'll get way more car for your money with a 3rd gen   :yesnod:

for the same price as a fixer upper 2nd gen  you can be in the car and driving a very nice 3rd gen  and as much as I love 70 models there are some expensive 70 only parts there  where a 68-69 might be easier and cheaper to fix   :Twocents:
