QuoteWow really that would be great I got to be honest with you it would be great to find a car in the next couple weeks

My best advise would be not to set a time line and don't rush. The best deals don't come just because you want them. Keep saving and keep watching and in the end you'll be glad you did.

This is the best advice I've seen so far on this. Their is much to find out about what you want. That you seem to be in a big hurry will get you in trouble.
You are asking advice from those that have been just where you are and we are here to help.
If you jump on something because you just can't wait than it will most likely cost you money. This is something we know because we have all been there.
If you have extra money to blow just to see what happens than learn the way we did. :icon_smile_wink:
It's a good lesson but you can side step that by what you get from this site.

You could consider a 66-67 charger.  Different looks/appearance but a fair amount cheaper.  You can find a decent driver for $6k

Man I would but I'm in love with the best bodies good idea though

Sorry b bodies

They are all b bodies

I agree completely.  Like I said, the take it slow, do your research, and let the right car pop up is the best advice you will get buying your first charger (and I will assume there will be more in your life).

If you are a 16 year old, in the same way that I and most of us were 16, and are dying to have a car right now, and it must be a charger, the Nashville car is your only option from the ones you have shown us.  I think you should be able to easily negotiate with that guy to make the car plus shipping come to $6k or less.  Then once you have one, you can dive in, learn a lot about chargers, and dream about the next one.  If you are dead set on a car now then buying a restoration project doesn't sound like the best idea.

I'm sorry for being so complex I've pretty much set my mind that I'm going to use whatever money I have to buy the best charger I can in the next couple weeks then hey if I want a different model or better car I can always sell it for a nicer charger or put money into it

Don't be sorry. Here are three cars.  Pic 1 is a first gen charger.  Pic 2 is a seccond gen charger.  Pic 3 is a third gen charger.  there are significant variances between the cars within the "generation" but this gives you the idea of body lines.

I agree with you.  But if time is short, money is limited, you insist on a charger, and you insist on a few weeks, that makes it tough.  All I am saying is that, of the list you showed us, the Nashville car is the clear winner.   I am sure the list is not exhaustive...

What you need is a car. You also like the old chargers. These are two different things.
So you are hoping to find a charger that will be your primary transport as well as the style you want.
I get it now.  That is a bigger order for your budget. :Twocents:

If this is going to be your first car it will not be your last car
Get any Charger that is moving on its own power that is close to your home that you can go look at it before buying it
No matter what car you get there will always be something to learn (where to look for rust ect) that you will use on the next one  ;)

First car and big motor is not always a good idea

Who is going to pay for car insurance ? (bigger motor bigger cost)
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

The best advice I can give a 16 year old wanting an old car is...

Wait until you're at least 30.

Take your money and buy the nicest, most reliable late model car or truck you can afford.

Something that you can drive reliably everyday, all the way through high school and college.

Something that you can be proud of and depend on now.

An old car will suck up all of your money and all of your free time.

That's time you should spend with friends, family, chasin' chicks and working on your education, and ultimately your career.

Later in life, after you've established yourself with a home of your own and a good solid income...

THAT is the time to think about an old car.

NOT before.

This is the advice I would give myself, if I could go back to '79 and slap the 16 year old me upside the head.  :slap:

I would then emphasize my point with a swift kick in my own ass. :nutkick: :spank: :nono:

These cars can be a lot of fun, but they can also distract you from what you really should be doing.

I'm still paying the price for this.

Every day.

And will be for the rest of my life.

:brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:
