You've proven that there are several for sale at any given moment.

But...

How many have you actually went and looked at in person ?  :shruggy:

Or... :scratchchin:

Are you just a keyboard cowboy ?   :slap:

That green 70 has a set of 14" rims on it.

The biggest instant length changing illusion on any car, not just our tank-limo-saurus Chargers, is going from 15" rims to 14" rims.

I got my car with 14" slot mags on it, made it look a mile long, went to 15" cuz I wanted ground clearance.

Hey guys I've been looking at a lot of pictures lately at for some reason it seems to me that the 68s are not as long at the 70s  :shruggy:

Im not sure if thats right or not mabeay its just the pictures what do you guys think?

It's the size of the photo/monitor ect, that distorts the actual size of the car.

Advice? Stop looking on the computer. Start searching your area. Find the people that own nice ones (that do car shows and such), get friendly with them and find out where the others are. Start saving money, then start knocking on doors with a pocketful of cash. If you find one that really moves you, but the guy wont seem to come off it, just be patient. Someday he may need money.

These cars are like courting women. Never put all your eggs in one basket. You have to line up several candidates and work on them. You may score quick, you may have to wait. Don't give up on the others no matter what and always keep some bucks around. You never know when you will get a call. We just scored one that took 4 years for the owner to come off it. Out of the blue he calls, long forgotten about and given up on. Dragged it home the next day.

That is a decent price! Straight body, decent paint, working motorod driver. The one eye sore that sticks out is the front end. But noa bad deal none the less. I would be on this if it weren't on the other side of the continent.

Sooner or later you will come across one and have everything ready to go and not take the plunge. I walked away from a 70 rt/se tha was a driver. I regret it to this day thinking that the seller could come down on price. Well the remake of dukes of hazard revamped interest in the charger so cest la vie.

Anyone close enough to check out the 70 charger in New York for me? :icon_smile_big:

The Dukes remake, along with easy credit and the ever soaring values seen on TV auctions temporarily inflated the values. They came down soon after. Today the Dukes play more of a role in the values of the lower end project cars. The rest is pretty much all Charger legacy.

Yep, Dukes elevates the value of rough 318 '69s more than anything else.

Every decade people talk about how these cars were cheap until about a decade ago.  Not true.  As early as 1990 these things were climbing in value.  That was nearly 25 years ago.

1 You can have it fast,
2 You can have it Clean,
3 You can have it Cheap.

Pick any two and settle in for the ride.  Right now it seems you are in the 2 & 3 camp but will not let go of 1.   :Twocents:

So true.  I remember looking for them in 1993-1995 (before I bought my first one) and thinking "I better get one before the prices keep going higher and higher" as they were starting to get pricey.  Those cars were popular then, just you tended to find more of the original ones still on the road.  One of my college friends had a rusty T5 1970 Charger RTSE 440 sixpack with a 4-speed that he used to cruise around in.  He would never sell to me, even though I had cash in hand ($4000+) to buy it.  He later sold it at a farm-ranch auction for $800 to buy a rice rocket (I did not know of the auction until after it was done).  The buyer drove it away, laughing all the way home for sure.  That happened in 1995....

My interest for the second gen chargers stemmed from watching the dukes of hazard when I was a kid. My biggest mistake was not jumping on a good charger before the dukes movie came out. Of course other movies portraying the car didn't help either lol. IIRC the car in question I let slip buy was a numbers matching 70 rt/se going for 10k. It drove amazing and was pretty much original inside and out. I thought I could wait the seller out. :brickwall:up

Brock Lee

$10K for an all original running driving 70 R/T SE was an exceptional value before the movie came out. About a year before that movie came out I was looking at a dead stock 70 318 car that was all original, clean, no rust. I was game at $8K and someone else bought it for $12K.

The 69 I will "never sell", I bought that at the end of 2003. Non-numbers matching 318, bad paint, missing valence corner caps (they changed the quarters and valence, didn't tackle the caps), rough interior, rough grille, no reverse, I paid $6K for that car. I don't think it would go for a whole lot more today in the exact same condition it was in.

If those cars are in your budget then why isn't this one?  Of the cars you listed there is one for $15k and one for $18.5k.  The one listed by F8-4life may be the best deal I have seen on this entire thread if it is real.  Granted the seller posted limited photos, and I would want to go see it, but hell, $19k for that 69?  How does that guy still have it?

Hey look, I agree with you.  Everyone has their favorite and for me the 68 is the tops.  That being said, if this car is real, and as good as the seller claims, then this is an unbelievably good deal.  I would say best deal I have seen so far on your thread, by a distance.  Holy heck man, next week 69 may be your favorite, get your foot in the door!  Or tell me now and I'm calling him!

I do not believe you will beat that deal. I do not believe you will get very close to beating that deal.  If it's true, which is yet to be seen....
