GUYS I MIGHT HAVE FOUND IT  :2thumbs:

Ok so the guy selling the car owns a restoration business and he bought this car for a client to restore but something happened and the restoration did not work out so he got the car. As of now he is restoring a 69 Charger R/T to go to mecum and attempt to sell it over 100000.  I called the guy about the car some time ago and just forgot about it then u stumbled upon it again and decided to check it out a bit closer and this is what I've got

He wants 15000 for our (he said it's what he paid for it)

The car is very dirty as you can see, I wiped off a little inside the trunk that's the way I bought it, I decoded the fender tag it is original charger 500 SE 383 4bbl posi rear, deluxe leather seats tic toc tach, console auto.(from the seller)

He seems like a honest guy (but I rember what happened last time so I'm being cautious. I told him that I would be gone from tommorow night till this Friday and we talked about it and he is going to send me some pictures of the body after he took that ugly tint off the windows,  and underneath and if I'm still interested in the car I'll call him tomorrow and so we can work out how he can hold it for me

But I figure hey this is a car hand picked for me  :scratchchin:

I agree.  Does not look bad from what we can see so far.

Looks respectable.  All I see is a not original type trunk floor and the spot on the door.  Both easily fixable areas.

Don't fool around on this one.  If you want it, go get it.

Benfro89

I will do the best to jump on the car if it's right by do you guys think it's a good car im kinda back and forth but I'm not Sur one as good is going to show up  :shruggy: oh and sorry guys I forgot to tell you the guy that owns the car told me that the car was restored 12 years ago or so

I do like the fact that it is a se 500 and that it has a 400 in it because my plan was to stroke the 383/400 I got with one of these cars and I rather have the 400 but I don't know mabeay is the tint that's throwing me off
LOOKING FOR THE ONE :)

moparnation74

Looks like a descent project car to start with, I would be concerned about the rust issues.  I would ditch the 400 and put a 383 back in it, that is my personal opinion.  383 is a bad azz big block and it is the most underated motor in the car world.

70 sublime

I do not think the tint is as bad as you think if you saw the car outside in the sun light

Just remember if you only have $15000 to spend then what you see is what you will have to live with till you earn enough extra cash to change stuff around
Does not take long to blow another $5000 on little things

Still not sure why you have to have a 68 69 70 Charger to start with (well I do because they are the best  :2thumbs:) but if you never have any other car (3rd gen mopar) to compare it too you will never really know

Lots of less $$ cars out there to start with and not have such a cash drain all at once

You can always trade up later

If the trunk is that dirty, then there are things atmospheric getting in there, dust, dirt, rain, snow...etc.

There is a void in the body somewhere.  :Twocents:

Under the hood looks the same too so it was just from someplace dust and windy

 I missed the absent weather stripping.

Looks like the dust and wind were accompanied by something wet, too.

With the bubbling on the door, the Billy bob trunk floor...

The torn leather seats (expensive)

And the general filth covering it...

I'd give this car a thorough, personal inspection before dropping a dime on it.

I suspect it needs way more work than meets the eye.

Then, there's the one thing you can't change...

It's a '70. :eek2:

:smilielol:

Ok, kidding...

A bit.

'70 parts are harder to find, more expensive when you do, and less is being made new for them. :Twocents:

Oh...

"Posi" ? ? ?

Ask the dude what he had to change to stuff a chevy rearend in it. :slap: :smilielol:

Ok, so I don't wanna be a buzz kill here. But Ben, I have to be honest. I've read through 30 pages of posts on this thread. I've looked at probably 100 cars posted up. It's been a hell of a ride for sure. And I'd be the last persone to poo poo on someones parade, but I have to be honest and say I think we're ALL kinda missing the key points to this thread. Yes, you want a Charger, and I for one commend you for that. It's a beautiful machine for sure, whether it's a second, or third gen car. They are a true pasison, and a love unlike probably any other. Now I also don't know you from a hole in the wall, and woulnd't recognize you if you were in line with me at Starbucks so maybe my next statements are all to be rendered moot...but here it goes. To my knowledge, you're a 16 year old kid who wants to drive a 68-72 dodge charger as a daily driver back and forth to school.....to school functions....to the grocery store for mome and dad.....on dates.....to the malll.....Does anyone see where I'm going with this? Lets look at that statement. You want to buy an expensive car, to park next to other young people in a school parking lot? You want to drive it daily (understanding this isn't modern, it's going to break)? Gas is how expensive where you live? 4-5$ a gallon? Are you paying for that? You're parents? Do you have a girlfriend? Do you wanna take her out? Because at 16 I wasn't making 90,000$ a year...I couldn't afford all that AND a bag of chips.

I just think from my perspective....buying a 5000$ third gen....and a 3000$ daily driver that gets 30 miles a gallon, and having the extra 7K to put into my 5000$ charger for fun is the best way to go.  That way while you work on your charger, you have another car to drive back and forth, and take daily. I mean, I feel like an ass for saying this, becuase I think we will all agree that we WANT you to find your dream car, and have a car....we've all been where you are, and when you're hunting it's tough. It's discouraging, and it sucks. And when you find one, and have it taken away, it sucks even more. But I'm afraid your best judgement is being clouded by your age. I want to be clear....it's not that I don't WANT you to have the car, becuase I do....but I don't want you to get the car, and THEN realize that it may have been a mistake at this point in your life. I don't wan it to keep you from being able to do a lot of other things you want to do or enjoy doing.

SO in saying that, I'm going to continue to follow the thread. I'm going to keep posting cars when I find them, and I'm going to keep rooting for you. Because like I said, It's not that I don't wan tyou to succeed, but I just want you to maybe take a step back, and think before you leap....(sorry, for all the old guy talk).

Just to mention it, I gave myself similar advice to what was given here back when I was 14.  I had just got my 69 but realized it was just going to be a money pit.  Parts weren't available at that time.  I decided to buy a truck that needed little and it served me well for 15 years and made me a good chunk of change.

I think most everyone on this thread agrees with you.  But the determination of a 16 year old young man is tough to sway.  If Ben gets his charger, and I too hope he does, he will just have to learn that he has a car "sometimes".  And hell, a charger sometimes is better than a corrolla all the time.

Thank you for looking out for me  :2thumbs:you guys ha e helped me with so much an all this charger stuff I really do appreciate it and I am very happy to have you guys help  :icon_smile_big:

Here's where I'm at my family owns quite a few cars and as of now I am driving that 25000hd that I talked about and I have the opportunity to drive atleast our not so mice trucks for as long as I want through high school (I know I sound spoiled but I promise you I do work for it and hell out with the family business and take car of the house when my parents are gone that kinda thing)  but anyway so if I did buy the charger I would have 2 cars or be able to use a extra one.  And I do go out quite a bit and  see people and cruise around ect so I guess gas could be a point to think about it but I'm ok with paying with gas somehow I afford 8mpg that my truck gets. I don't know I'm just itching to have a muscle car just tingle in

Called too late and was 8th in line, huge bummer. He was getting swamped with calls so took the ad down but had me email him and said he would let everyone know once the car was gone.

Here is the ad, I have a 69 Dodge Charger R/T with a 440 Magnum and automatic tranny up for sale. It only had one owner and was never issued a title, so the car does not come with a title. The last time it was registered was in 1986. The motor was started 2 years ago. It is all original and numbers matching. Even have the build sheet and dealer brochures.
