I.D. Required to buy ammo in Wa. State......

I know this has been happening more and more and I really don't have a problem with gun registration when buying a gun.  But, today was the first time in my 66 years that I had to show I.D. to buy ammunition for my guns and it didn't feel right.  I don't remember reading when this took affect in this State, or was voted on for that matter.  All my info off my drivers license is now in a database and through my purchases of ammo, the State/Feds will know every caliber of weapon I own.  That would include rifles that have been in the family for decades before any registration was required.  It seems nothing is private anymore.....

Is a drivers license accepted as I.D.? If so you can keep your real identity info to yourself and just get another drivers license by just saying you are not a US citizen but really need to drive to get to work. :icon_smile_wink:

Of course you will need a user name and SS No. /password.

Here in the wonderful state of Illinois, you have to have a special ID to buy guns and ammo. ::)

It's called a F.O.I.D. card.  :brickwall:

Don't ever think that gun registration is harmless.  Does anyone remember how gun registration worked out for the Jews during WWII?  Registration is the first stage of confiscation, and any American that values their constitutional rights should loathe registration of any kind.  What business is it of anyone as to what legal firearm I decide to buy?  Not that there should be such a thing as a legal and illegal firearm, but that's a different thread.

We're losing our rights everyday folks, this is just the beginning...

It's bad enough that a F.O.I.D. card is unconstitutional,  but you get the privelege of being able to pay for that card also.. :nutkick:

So vote somebody out of office over it.  Do it ASAP and make a lot of noise about why it's happening.

The city of my county and some others require ID to purchase ammo...a pending bill will require a permit statewide if passed.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

REGCHRD: Is this new in WA? It's been a couple of years since I needed to buy..... Do they actually write your license down and enter it into a data base or what? Last I loaded up was about 2years ago and it was not required then....

I've been watching the sales at Big 5 but the caliber I'm short on never seems to come up ob sale

Mike, It must be new.  The last time I bought any was a couple of years ago and no I.D. Was required.  And that was at the same store.  I also found it odd that no where near the previous inventory of any caliber was available.  They did not even have any 22 rounds in stock.  At the counter they require your drivers license and input the info into the computer...

I buy online myself. Usually much cheaper but it always pays to shop around. :Twocents:

Commencing on July 1, 2015 here in Cali you will have to have a permit to purchase ammo.  To obtain such a permit, the holder would have to pass a traditional background check as well as a mental health check.  Going to be a pain.

RECHRGD - you should ask what the statute is that pertains to having to furnish ID to buy ammo in WA.  I was searching online and could find nothing in the RCW's about having to furnish ID for an ammo purchase.  I usually purchase ammo when I am visiting family on the east side and heading for the range. Has me very curious about what is going on.

twodko - I prefer online myself but in states that require you to have an ammo license to purchase ammo, they cannot sell to you online. So I better buy what I can find while I can get the good online deals for the next year.

we (in illinois like said before) have had to carry a f.o.i.d. card for ammo etc....  and now can get the carry and conceal permit which costs more than any of the other states. 4 times more than arizona.

I took the classes for my Concealed Carry permit.

I Actually learned a lot.

It is very expensive here in Illinois.

And, of course. Illinois was the very last state to allow it.

It's just a big money grab.

But, I'm sure we can all trust our politicians to handle our money wisely.  :slap: :brickwall: :rotz:

CCW costs here in cali are $500+, depending on local law department fees and training fees.

Since we all want to keep the forum out of politics, this is a Dodge Charger forum after all, you might want to check out https://www.gunandgame.com/. A great group of firearms owners and because they do deal with a Constitutional issue they have a section just for politics. If you have never been there come on over and check them out. There, like here, I am the draftingmonkey.

John - sorry I jumped the gun (good catch).  The Bill, SB 53, passed the Senate and is now in the Assembly. But considering the makeup of the our state representatives I expect it to eventually pass and become law.

OK, I do remember this PRK Charlie Foxtrot attempt in Sacramento.
The NRA and CalGuns.net are fighting it hot and heavy. I'm not convinced
it will get passed in light of the failure to force ammo micro marking.

Thank God we don't have any of that ridiculous crap here in Indiana I bought my lifetime license to carry a handgun back in 2008 and it only cost $75.00 best purchase I have ever made... no classes, no bull, paid the $75.00 to the Sheriff dept. and received the license three weeks later. I only live 20 minutes from the Illinois border and know several people that live in Illinois and they hate it there because of crap like the FOID card.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Chargerguy74

I reload. I was required to provide "my" information the other day to buy primers. I am dead set against this and firearm registration. Registration leads to confiscation.
