The picture attached is where the windshield pillar, door pillar, and cowl all meet together, kind of like a sandwich. I for whatever reason have a gap here. If anyone of you with a  nice car (as you can see, mine is not there yet) can send me a close up pic of your car in that area, it would be greatly appreciated

Hope these help..

Looks like you have the typical problem (bad in your case) that these cars have.   That corner was finished by using hot lead to form the junction with the three pieces of metal.   The lead and steel formed an electrical cell that promoted all sorts of corrosion.   Be careful when working in that area as grinding, etc may produce lead dust!!

I ended up heating the area with a butane torch and scraping the lead off then sanding (wearing a respirator) the remainder.   Then I just used weld material to fill the gap.

If you look on my thread, on page 5 you can see how everything goes together.

Thanks Mitch!  I found the lead already and torched it off, but good tip for anyone reading this. The way it looks made me think that some material was filling that gap at one point and is now gone, so what you're saying sure makes sense (i.e. it was filled with lead). Now that I know the gap is technically supposed to be there, I'll do like you and fill it with welding material.

Thanks again!!

p.s. Your build thread is now part of my favorites...looks like most of the work I'll be doing you've done already so a reference is always nice.  :2thumbs:
