Hello knightprowl and welcome to the forum.   My book shows the 4-bbl carb used on an automatic 383 cu.in.  charger with A/C was an AVS model 4638S. Hope this helps.

Didn't click on your avatar/forum name before and didn't realize you have been a member since 2012. Anyway, glad I could help and do not let the "usual suspects" intimidate you from posting! :2thumbs:  Any questions you might have, these guys can answer!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows the brand of carburetor that was used from the factory for a 1969 dodge charger base model with the 383 four barrel(not the 383 Magnum) and A/C. I know of two kinds that where used. The Carter AVS four barrel and a Holley 600 cfm four barrel. However I do not know which one was used for the base model with a 383 four barrel and A/C. So if anyone knows which one is correct then please let me know.

Thank you and Peace

Holley R4440 PN 2946538 was typical for 330 horse A/C with automatic application but I have seen a Carter 4638 used in the application late in the year (616 car)
Carter 4711 PN 2946598 for a 330 horse manual A/C.

Go with the Holley. I haven't seen the AVS used with a 383-4bbl-Auto-A/C except for the one late built car.

Just a few months ago I sold my 69 charger base model, 383 4 bbl with air. It had a Holley . When I first got the car I thought it couldn't have came factory, but further research proved that , that's how they came with that setup. Go with the Holley.  :Twocents:

Why delete? Doing so is selfish and rude. When a member asks a question, the site is open for all to see. Many people that are casual observers may benefit from the topic. When you delete a topic, you are basically saying.."Thanks for helping ME, to heck with what anyone else thinks".

nvrbdn

i agree, especially a topic like this that shares knowledge of originality. would have liked to see each post or question. :shruggy:

Pure speculation here, but I would guess so now it can be presented or sold as having an "original" motor AND carb.  While not leaving a trail of evidence on the internet.  Too bad you can't delete any parts that were quoted.

From now on, when some jerk with a low post count asks a question, hit the QUOTE button and lock his/her words into the thread so is cannot be lost. This may discourage these inconsiderate dolts.

First thing that came to mind  :rotz: it's a poster who is a flipper and is trying to scam some folks get info then delete threads for no bread crumbs.

He has asked the same on all his threads...do delete everything. Check his past posts he has made

only other thing I could think of is maybe a car that the misses or the ex don't know about

The reason I always delete my topics after I have the answers to my questions is because I have no use for it anymore. Sure it may seem selfish to you all but not to me. I never keep a topic or any of my posts on any website or forums after it is not needed. So it has nothing do with anything you have said. I am not trying to hide anything from anyone. I am not trying to scam anyone. I am not trying to protect my intellect or how stupid I may seem for asking a question from anyone or anything else you have said.

I just don't see the point in keeping my topics or posts after I have no use for them. If anything I am just a very weird person that keeps nothing around after he is done with it online as well as in real life. I guess I am kind of the paranoid type as well never keeping any personal information on websites or forums. Its why I have no information on my profile on this site or any website or forums or other social networking websites and forums other then what is required by that specific website or forums and that's all hidden when and where possible. In other words I am just a very weird paranoid anti social person.

That is it. So call me whatever you want and say whatever you want to me or about me but I have said the truth of the matter. So you can believe what I said or not. I don't care either way. What others think of me or say to me or about me is no concern or problem of mine. Everyone has there own opinions and I cannot change them no matter what they are. But now you know my side of the story. And you can quote my messages all you want. I will still delete them even if the quoted messages remain. So please do what you want. It is your choice. I don't care either way. I just wanted everyone to know the reasons behind why I delete my topics or posts.

I understand your point, but the reason that its selfish is that we are all members of this community sharing info and knowledge about these cars. If this thread would have been left alone another charger guy or gal could have the same question, hit search and fund your thread..that's what the technical part of this forum is about. The compilation of everyone's experience and knowledge .

I agree with charger Brodie , this is a shared community to help all, we all have similar cars and some like to post and help and most just read, I have many people on here I consider friends and they just read, ? So why delete something that could quickly help others,

Well, the OP can piss off for all I care. Good luck trying to get help here again. Nobody likes to be used and disregarded. Selfish a-holes that burn bridges are the last thing anyone needs.

I read the original post--thanks to Mopar-nut---So what is the real hp and torque of a 383 4bl.?
Knightprowl can find this info. with an internet search but chose to ask us.

Is their a controversy out there about this?

Where is the value of this info.? Is it to win a bet?

His method of interacting on a public forum is a bit creepy.----He stepped up and posted a question then spent effort to undo his--- intrusion?---Did he get the answer to his question?

:shruggy:  All I have are questions. :scratchchin:

I like the "wrong answer". I've done that on accident before but this could be a LOT of fun.

c00nhunterjoe

Dodge grossly underrated the hp/tq numbers. The 383 was "rated" at 335/425 but we all know that this monster motor really made 650/837......   :popcrn:

Paranoid types make me laugh. Like the proper hacker couldn't find out anything and everything about anybody with enough time. Anybody can be hacked. Anybody can be found. Not posting your info. Is just plain dumb.
IP addys are where it's at.

Like this guy I was talking with at Carlisle about proving that "real" movie Christine a fake. For whatever reason, there are those who change when in a group or in person from their online persona. I do not.
if I don't like you, or have a problem with you, i say and do nothing I wouldn't in person and dare you to call me out. No reason to be paranoid about life on a forum asking car questions.

I agree.  It appears that this fellow has a nasty habit of alienating himself in forums all over the net so he just deletes everything after he gets the info he wants I suppose.

This thread gives some insight...
