Waxing chrome?

How many of you are putting a coat of wax on your bumpers?  I've never done this but heard of others doing so, is it a waste of time or good idea?

I haven't heard of it ghoste, but i also polish my chrome work with mother trim polish, gets rid of water marks shines them up perfect everytime I clean car ,
Is this leaving a film on them , not sure

 yeah I do , I
use chrome cleaner  first  on the chrome & stainless  ,  then after I finish waxing the paint ,  wax the chrome / stainless  then  side & rear glass

Never waxed chrome, just polish.

Interesting....My new replacement outside door handles from Trim Parts included a note telling me to wax them prior to installing. As the car is a work in progress I decided not to wax. (I want no wax on anything till a "final" paint job.)  Now 18 months later, they are starting to look pretty crappy.  (I haven't used the car much yet ether.)

A true chrome job should clean up with some chrome polish (Mother's).  Have you tried a little polish or just wipe them down real hard with a polishing type of cloth?  Make's me wonder how good the chrome is??

I tried to take a pic but my camera's too crappy, it just comes out looking dull. I've only washed the car 3 times in 18 months much less polished anything. (With a little watered down Dawn dish soap.)

I polish my chrome weekly and wipe my car down every 2 days and if I'm bored of the wax look I'll put a different wax on to give a different depth and glow etc...

Had both bumpers rechromed. Said it would be awhile before i installed them. The chrome guy said to put a good coat of good wax on them and wrap them back up.

Any chrome polish will have an abrasive component in it. If you're cleaning
up old chrome pieces chrome polish is a good start then use a good carnauba wax.

For new chrome anything.........wax only.

Every cruise night. Coat of wax and a liberal shot of WD-40 behind the bumpers on all my rides.

Same here. I see no reason to take chrome polish (or any other abrasive polish) to chrome in good condition. Scratches or swirls do not come out of chrome like paint.
A very reputable chrome shop told me the best to use is a non-abrasive carnuaba wax. I will sometimes use a cleaner prior to wax to remove any film, but unless you're trying to bring up a shine on old chrome I do not see the need for polish on fresh or good condition chrome.
