was going to spray today, but didn't realize i didn't have enough hardener.  - the brand i have is from tcp global (AU-4001).  The paint i have is tcp globals acrylic urethane.  - is urethane hardener pretty generic? can i mix a different brand hardener with my "restoration shop" paint?
A friend has some hardener but it is for an 8-1 mix where mine is 4-1.

thanks,

jaak

I wouldn't advise mixing hardeners from different brands. I would play it safe and order the correct hardener for what you are using. I know you are probably wanting to spray today, but you run the risk of paint not curing properly, costing you more time and money. That's a big risk for $30 can of hardener.

I agree with Jaak. Mixing components of a paint system between different sources is an "experiment" in paint chemistry that often doesn't work out well at all. There are enough things than can go wrong in the painting process without introducing a known problem.
