Anybody familiar with these automotive scissor lifts ?

The floor jack and jack stand routine is getting old.

As I'm attempting to assemble my Daytona, I find myself wanting to raise and lower the car often.

A small lift like this seems like the solution.

I don't have the ceiling height or the garage space for a full sized lift.

I would also like to put the engine in from the bottom, so it would have to lift the car pretty high, and leave enough room in front for the engine/trans.

These seem like they'd be unstable at their highest position.

Any body here have something similar ?

Any experience with this type of lift ?

The examples below are just to illustrate the type I'm referring to.

I'd be interested in input on any brand.

Here's one kind:

Here's a picture of another brand:

I used to have one in one of my stalls back when I was doing collision work.  The only thing that is a problem is you can't get under the middle of the car but for one end or around the car its great.  The one I had was a Snap On but others are about the same. :shruggy:

I would be scared of it with a 4,000 pound car on it....

I agree totally . If you don't have the headroom for a conventional lift I'd get one for sure. They work great for drooping the body onto the front suspension and engine too.

The one I have is a Rotary Revolution scissor lift.6,000lb capacity, great for doing bodywork, oil change, brakes, etc. But you won't be able to install the eng/trannny as one from the bottom with one of these. The engine on the K frame, yes, but not with the tranny on it,it is above the platform of the lift.
Very happy with it ,very solid, built well .

I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on one for years.   After searching to where my eyeballs hurt, I was going to go with the Bendpak scissors lift, but then this one came into the equation.  It's the Atlas Kwik Bay 7,000 and Benpak SP-7X.

Here was my opinion based on what I found researching.

The Bendpak is the best built scissors lift.   Main reason is the locking mechanism is better then the Chinese versions.   The MD6-XP - $2,000 around.

The Atlas MR06 is doesn't have the locking mechanism the Bendpak does, but the cost is $1,400.

Issues with above is the access to the middle of the car.

About a year ago, I found the Atlas Kwikbay ($2200), which I thought is a good solution, and it has a locking mechanism that uses air for releases the locking points.   I was pretty much sold on this until the Bendpak SP-7X came out ($4,500).

I will most likely pick up the Atlas Kwikbay based on a balance of functionality and the price it is at.

Garage Journal has some great write ups on different lifts.  The Maxjax might be a consideration for you also, but I would be paranoid the thing would come down with our big ass Mopars.

My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

Good point Mike, the Quick bay scissor lifts have 2 separate sides keeping the middle open.I didn't need one like that,I just wanted one for doing bodywork.Out in my other garage where the ceiling is high I have 2 other lifts,a four post and a Bendpak 2 post for doing the other tasks that were mentioned.
The Max-jack is a mobile 2 post style, but remember you have to drill into your floor to anchor it/bolt it down.I geuss they're ok,but I'd prefer the Quick Bay style over it.

Silver R/T

They're pretty good. I worked for a guy who had body shop/towing service and he'd use lift to lift his F250 tow truck so I could change oil on it. I believe Harbor Freight carries them as well so you can check one out if you have HF nearby.

I have a two-post lift outside my shop but it isn't very handy for doing work around the doors at waist level (knees are shot) so I got a scissor lift for inside the shop. It's a 6000 lb. Atlas MR06....moves into a corner and becomes another "horizontal surface" when not in use.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

That looks pretty good.  :scratchchin:

The price isn't bad either.  :coolgleamA:

Got mine from Greg Smith.

They have one on ebay with free shipping :

The E-bay one is $200 higher than the one you can pick up at their business...

But...

Drive 3 hours each way to Indy (for me )

And pay sales tax...

I'd say it's pretty much a wash. :scratchchin:

Much easier to hit buy it now and wait for the truck...
