Yes, I did on my '71.  That is the same thing used originally back in the day. Urethane is probably a more certain seal but unless you are really versed in dispensing urethane, it can be tricky getting the thickness amount correct to have the glass meet your window moldings properly. If you use the ribbon, just make sure you put the primer on both glass and window channel to promote adhesion and press the glass in good! If I remember correctly, The 3/8" ribbon is what I used.
