I have a 66 Charger. My three car garage is full of cars, so unfortunately the 66 sits outside. I tried to E bay it several years ago and I only had one person who wanted it. I haven't had any time to do anything with the car because of family obligations, house and yard chores. The car is registered, runs and drives, but I don't drive it.
Anyway, yesterday a guy stopped and asked if the car was for sale. I threw a number out and we exchanged numbers. He is going to have his body guy stop over and look at it.
Have you ever had a similar situation? How often do the deals actual go through or in your opinion is it usually someone trying to get a "deal'?

ive had it happen a couple times, and both deals went through.
now on the other hand, i had a guy want to buy my 69 cougar. so i let him check it out. we stood there for 2 hours working out a deal. ( the deal included me receiving a new car trailer with cash). he then brought his uncle with him the next day to go over the whole car. they were happy. he said in a week or so we would deal because he had to wait for the title for the trailer to come in to complete the deal. a month and a half later i still dont have the trailer or the cash. i called him last week and he said he was sorry for the delay and that he really wanted to do this deal in another week, just a delay in putting the cash together. now another week gone and still no trailer or cash.  so it can go both ways. i know this kid really wants this car, so i probably will wait on him. i really just want a trailer and didnt want to wait for it.

I would think the same odds as someone answering a for sale ad in the paper or online.

Never sold, but i bought my vette and cutlass simply by stopping to check them out, the vette was on a driveway, and the cutlass was under a tree, i just stopped and asked if they were for sale, and both times they were  :yesnod:

Yes I did and it wasn't too pretty. :icon_smile_blackeye:

I sold a 66 6cylinder 3 spd stick Mustang to a distant neighbor, about 10 blocks away. Well the clutch went in about three weeks and his mom came knocking looking for a full refund.

I was pretty dumbfounded as I was only 16 years old and had the "old" lady yelling at me. :RantExplode: then My mom got involved and told her to pound sand..... :slap: we weren't a car lot offering up any warranties.

I still duck when I drive past that house 35 years later.
wingless now, but still around.

Never sold one, but purchased the last Chevy LUV I owned that way. It was a former show truck that an old man had left his daughter. Pulled up in my V8 convertible LUV and asked if she'd sell it. 2 hours later I went back with a uhaul trailer (don't know how I talked them into let me rent it and hook it up to my LUV) and a bank envelope full of cash.
