Show me your K member / engine / transmission dollies...

The kind you put the engine, transmission and K member on to roll under the car to install the entire assembly from the bottom up.  :scratchchin:

Home made or otherwise.  :scope:

Homerr

Lower right, basic frame with angle iron to receive the oil pan.  Verticals support back end of block, good enough to move around the shop.

I'll probably make one, but does anybody have any experience with the one from US Car tool ?

Thats the one I picked up at Carlisle last year, still brand new in the box, have'nt used it yet.For $399,no shipping, not worth my time to make one.

I just used an inexpensive HF ATV Lift to do the job. It only needs a couple of inches for clearance, so you can slide it under the K-frame without having to jack up the car first, or lift the front end 6 feet in the air to roll the assembly out. I'm at work right now so I can't really post any pic's here at the moment.

Here is how I did it..... What you can't see are the two pins welded on the cross bar that the k-member rests on. The pins align the k-member on the dolly via the two factory holes on the bottom of the kmember.

 ;D hey Troy,
I love how you put a towel between the jack and the dolly. Wouldn't want to scratch the bottom of the dolly right. :2thumbs:
wingless now, but still around.

Looks good, Troy.  :2thumbs:

I've been thinking about making one, and the posts here have given me some good ideas.

But...  :scratchchin:

I've made so many things for this car myself, including several of the Daytona parts.

I've got dozens of other "custom" parts to make for this car before I'm done...

And...

At this point, I'm just getting tired of making stuff for this project.  ::)

So...

I'm going to go ahead and puss out...  :hah:

And order the one from US cartool.  :coolgleamA:

Love that one, Troy.  I hope you don't mind me borrowing the idea and making one like it.

Not at all. This Dolly was a brainchild from a friend of mine. Mod's I would do in the future would make the single caster ( tranny end ) a pivot/lock version. I would also make the pedistal for the transmission mounted further forward or adjustable.
