I see he has added more picts to the ad, and lowered the price to $40k...really looks like a solid car, and complete- has rear window and trim, A-pillar moldings, interior complete, etc...maybe some rust issues in the taillight panel and rear valance area?  Anyone know if engine and trans are original? He doesn't mention that in the ad....

There is a screenshot of the original listing on the first page of this thread. Owner claims all numbers match.

With better pictures now, what's it worth?

if it's indeed numbers matching, i'd say $35,000 - even $37,000 wouldn't be unrealistic for the desirable color. the seller is now asking $40,00 OBO, so there is some wiggle room.  the bright aero trim parts are there - wonder if all of the grille filler pieces are

here is the revised ad

A fairly well restored (wrong color) comp for $75k. I know the aero market is a bit of a niche, and to me seems a little volatile. Is that a fair statement? No hard feelings implied, just curious.

Can the B3 car be restored to this level for $35k? I don't think so, but restorations aren't always financially sound endeavors. The $75k car seems like a good buy unless someone has some dirt on it.

tough call. the one you linked to on hemmings is a beautiful car. the color change improved the visual appeal, but almost certainly at the expense of the car's value. the car has a second strike against it besides the color change, that being the non matching numbers. to some (me included) that's not the end of the world, but to many it is a deal breaker.

a huge factor to consider is the price of admission. not everyone can cough up 75k the same as 35k. for the ones that cannot, the project car is their only option. perhaps a full restoration isn't even their goal. the project car could be a driver for a few grand in replacement parts, and turn just as many (if not more) heads at the local cruise-in.

i'm totally on the b5 bandwagon, but the rarity of b3 paint would be worth a premium. just how much i do not know.

Still curious to the color, but I am inclined to think it is B5 because of the thin paint on hood.  I like the B3, but I am not in the stack of available 500s that there is much value between a B3, B5 or B7 of which most do not care for B7 which at this point in my life is my favorite of the three.  But does have value over a green, red, bronze or gold, IMO.

how about three colors in this same condition.. a F5 vs B3 vs silver or black?  Unspecific to full number, what do you think the spread it there?  I could see a 25-30 spread which maybe mirrors restored cars too...maybe?

I think you hit it on the head.  Unless someone is capable of doing all the work, frankly if the car was free it would still be expensive...

I think it sold. I haven't seen any new postings. Hopefully the new owner finds us (or is already among us).  :coolgleamA:

You could try to work a package deal for the hitch & shag carpet?.

So what is rumor control?

Did it sell?  To anyone here?

I haven't seen it show up anywhere.  :shruggy:
