74 Charger Front Valance to Radiator Support Seals

My 74 Charger 2 dr hardtop has 2 sheet rubber seals on the front that I don't have on my 74 Ralleye although the holes are there for the seals. They were probably removed before I got the car. The large seal goes from the bottom of the valance ( 4 holes and plastic clips) that seals the air gap between the valance and the radiator bottom support bracket and goes all the way up to the headlight brackets on the fenders. The second smaller seal is held on by plastic clips from the back of the radiator support bracket and seals the air gap to the bottom radiator tank. Are these rubber seals available as well as the plastic clips or are people buying the rubber sheeting and cutting their own?
Thanks for any information.
Terry

Me I dunno  :shruggy:

ODZKing, Nacho or 1973Rallye will probably weigh in, they'll know.
I'm quite ashamed that I don't  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Good luck

Yep, Terry,
What you are looking for is http://www.ebay.com/itm/DMT-MOPAR-73-74-Charger-Splash-Shields-Dodge-Radiator-/290446414296?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item439ff491d8&vxp=mtr
I'm going to pick mine up at Carlisle and save the shipping since I don't desperately need them. I've attached a pic of one from a car at Carlisle last year.

ODZking, that's the large seal set all right. Glad to see they're made. There's a second seal that goes from the back of the lower radiator support to the radiator lower tank to seal that gap. Have you seen that seal being made? Did all 73/74 Chargers come with theses seals? I don't see the lower radiator support to radiator seal on their website.
Thanks again.

I looked at the catalog on the suggested pages and do not see the seal I have in my Charger. I looked through the rest of the catalog and don't see it anywhere. It doesn't look like it's reproduced yet. I'll see if I can get a good picture of it installed. The holes it pins into are on the rear side of the lower radiator support. Thanks.

Here's two pictures of the radiator support to radiator seal I'm talking about. In the one picture, my Ralleye charger has everything removed so you can see the holes for the pins on the rear of the radiator support. In the other picture, you can see the seal that goes in those holes and fills the air gap between support and radiator (pen is pointing at it). In a car with a/c, this seal may not be visible. You can also see the seal that is being reproduced at the back of the pen that fills the sir gap between the valance and lower radiator support. Did all the 73/74 Chargers have these seals?
Thanks,
Terry

I may need to contact DMT and see if they're familiar with this other seal and if they can make it. I plan on pulling the radiator in the Charger and that would be a good time to remove that seal. The plastic clips will break but it looks like the same clip used on the other seal and available through DMT. By the way ODZking, thank you for the pictures of the front of that Charger. I'll be reinstalling the a/c condenser in that car and it answered my question about the mounting hardware and where the filter/drier receiver are located. DO you have a picture of the expansion valve and the routing of the hoses? Or anyone else with pictures of the a/c routing. I have the FSM that has a diagram, but it's not detailed. Thanks.

Terry, let's look at the seal first.  Yes, according to the parts book there is a seal between the condenser and radiator on A/C cars.  Interesting!  One more thing I have to find for my car now!   :brickwall:
My radiator is correct # now but wasn't when I bought the car. The condenser is Classic Auto Air but that may have been original to the car, don't know.  In any case, mine is missing as well.
As you can see it is 3672921.  May have to call DMT as you mentioned as I did a search on Parts Voice and no one has one that I could find.
And in answer to your question it looks as if ONLY A/C cars had the rad seal.  Makes sense, you'd want the air to go thru the condenser and the radiator, not down and out. Non A/C cars don't need it.
I believe all the others had the splash shield.
I am going to shoot them an email now with the parts book page as well.

Here is a couple shots of mine pre-engine and pre-condenser.  Hard to tell if it's there, I'd have to look tonight.

As far as the A/C goes, send me your email and I'll send you a bunch of full size pics during that tedious process.  :brickwall:

Found another one ... guess there is a seal there.     Check that off the list.

Nacho-RT74

my car got so many seals missed FROM FACTORY that I dunno about the condenser seal. Just got the valance to frame seals from DMT which will be installed after the new fresh body and paint job.

My car is a 74 with A/C and it has the one Terry is talking about.

Thanks to all. Now it's making sense. My Rallye Charger had dealer installed a/c and neither of the seals although the all holes are there. My other 74 Charger had factory a/c and has the seals as shown in my picture but all the engine bay components are missing. I like the idea of having the seals and will install them on the Rallye in case I ever want to install a/c - I removed it to make it match the fender tag and broadcast sheet. It was an under-dash unit anyway. Just when I think I have a good understanding of these cars, I find something else. Thanks.
