Autotrader commercial with duke boys

It went by pretty fast, but I did notice that the Charger dash was painted all tan just like a lot of the series car. It pretty much looked the same as always,

All the interior shots with Tom/John were filmed in an actual series used car.

I like that they used 7" wide Vector wheels and blackwall tires like on the original show, rather than the current trend toward 8.5" wide Vectors and raised white letter tires, like in the godawful 2005 movie.

I don't like the "plot" of the commercial, i.e., the idea that the "General Lee" is an over-the-hill relic that can't cut the mustard anymore.

Yeah, the plot is annoying.  
But it was inevitable.  Auto Trader dreamed up this idea for their own purposes.  It's not officially canon in the DOH franchise. 


The 2005 and 2007 shows actually did use 15x7" rims.  I recall the white letter tires being purely a product-placement deal.  Same with the smaller steering wheels.

Indeed.. But that is what the commercial was for.. They y'all here luck say.. Heaven in the Jump shot though the window of the Dealership?! That didn't sound right at all.. Also to go from a Georgia road to a Dealership somewhere is a big differents, that part did not look right at all.. It is Funny, but to go from one scene to the next scene is not a good way to go.. But anyway I loved it!

I was thinking they used 15" x 8.5" Vectors, but I haven't seen it since it came out. It may be that I've seen so many fan-built replica General Lees with raised white letter tires and 15" x 8.5" Vectors (and Phoenix Graphix decals) since that movie came out that I started thinking the movie cars had 8.5s too.

Yeah, they definitely are. You can see in this picture - link - that they don't have the raised lip around the outer edge of the rim that the originals have.

American Racing calls it "satin black". It looks like this:



They have been available in "satin black" since they were re-reissued recently (in their first reissue in the mid '00s they were a glossy gray color that American Racing called "anthracite".

Thanks Justin. Looks like an autumn shoot. Also where was this filmed? Georgia? I liked the setting of the dreary colder weather kinda like season 1.

It was filmed in Folsom, LA in Late Feb 2014.  The make-shift dealership was in Slidell, LA.  Actually, the dealership was nothing more than an auction house storage facility.  I'm a fan of the commercial but I do not get bent out of shape about the storyline. As it was already mentioned, it was up to the AutoTrader writers. They were not too concerned about what was historically correct or that Bo and Luke were ditching the GL for a Viper.  Just be glad they drive off in a Viper and not a new SS Camaro or something along those lines.

I didn't like that either.  Actually I was stunned that the boys finally grew up and new it was time to move on.  Or something like that.

IT WAS A GOOD COMMERCIAL.  Entertaining and funny.

whats best about it all is that lately when you think of kfc chicken, duralast batteries, valvoline oil or auto trader, the 2nd gen charger comes to mind.  i like that
