Indeed.. But that is what the commercial was for.. They y'all here luck say.. Heaven in the Jump shot though the window of the Dealership?! That didn't sound right at all..

Sounded to me like he said "Good God in the heavens", and I think it goes right with the jump, like he said it because it may not be quite as much fun as it was 35 years ago.  :smilielol:

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Old Dog, Old Tricks.

That was awesome and relieved to hear all the stunt cars survived.

Those boys look like they could handle another movie easily!

I think the Series Cast could pull off one more Reunion show ,  as long as there was a decent budget , the last two reunions where good ,but would have been a whole lot better if they had more of a budget , yes for more stunt's ,jumps etc .

Mike DC

I would rather not see any more reunion shows.  It's been too long.   The younger half of the cast could do it but the older half is mostly gone.  Even Jimmy Best would probably need to have his appearance kept small this time.

The reunions were around 15 years removed from the original show.  Now it has already been another 15+ years since the reunions.

Yeah, I know the feeling!  It's jarring to realize that DOH is getting old enough to be "retro" twice over.

The Jessica Simpson remake came out in 2005.  This coming fall will already be 10 years since the cameras first started rolling on that.  Wild.

Thats cool!  Just hope no one got hurt.....namely the general or generals... :yesnod:

Yeah, James Best was very much showing his age (not just his appearance, but the way he talked and acted) in the reunion movies, and those were 17 and 14 years ago. He'll be 88 years old next month; I don't think he'd be up to it. Many people his age are in a nursing home, many others never lived that long in the first place.

The Best/Booke comedy duo was one of the best aspects of the show, but with Booke dead, that aspect is obviously impossible now.

Nothing against Catherine Bach, I'm sure she's a wonderful person, but she was never much of an actress. Her main function in the original series was as eye candy, a function which she can no longer fulfill, not for the mainstream anyway.

All that's left is the General Lee, Schneider and Wopat, and possibly Jones and Shroyer, though they are both getting along in years as well (72 and 78 respectively).

The Dukes of Hazzard never had any real substance to its storylines; it was successful because of the actors/characters and the car, and now there's not much left of that.

John and Tom looked like they where enjoying them selves ,  also has the jump the 70 charger General lee did into the cardboard boxes .

I bet Tom and John did have fun.  A bit of nostalgia without the headaches of a full on production.

I wonder how that car ended up with just the driver seat.  It wasn't a jump car.  Both actors were in the car for the whole commercial.

That is what the GL looked like in the original TV show, more or less anyway (aside from the overly fat door numbers with the highly screwed up angle on one of the corners of each "0"); or are you referring to the interior? If so, the second-unit stunt cars on the original TV show had full roll cages similar to that.

JB400

I believe he was talking about how the "Hero" cars should have been portrayed.  Make them look more like a stock car instead of making them look like a "stock" car with graphics.

suburbanfireman

It's cool that they used Shooter Jennings to sing the song for the commercial - a bit of an homage to Waylon.  I bet he would be proud.  :Twocents:
Tim "The Toolman" Taylor: "I think I might be addicted to cars."

Jill Taylor: "Well, DUH!"

Tim "The Toolman" Taylor: "I'm thinking about checking myself into the Henry Ford Clinic!"

I've always thought all the GLs should have been caged.  I was glad when the new movie did it that way.

The simple GL rollbar looked like it was just there to give the impression of a full cage.  Easily changed in & out, doesn't clutter up the front where the actors live, etc.

It got a bit less convincing when the interior was lightened and the rollbar went black in 1982.  The color changes were a nice looking combo but it revealed how simple the cage really was.

While I'm correcting things the GL also should've had a gutted interior.  And a 4spd.  And steel wheels 8-10" wide.  And cut fenders for them.  And a "01" on the roof facing towards the passenger side.  Etc.

Here's a picture from 1971:

Notice that that car actually does have the doors welded shut. Plus the door handles have been deleted (many people will swear up and down that the General Lee's door handles were deleted too). The side markers have been deleted (like the later season General Lees). It also has text on the side of the roof above the side windows, in the same location as the "General Lee" text.

I know steel wheels are more authentic for a dirt track car, but I wouldn't want the General Lee to have them; the Vectors are perfect, and a big part of the car's "personality".

The passenger seats where removed when the General lee's went back to PCW  .
