Anyone watch that yet?

Different kind of car show, if that's how things actually are...

They take all of your old crap in the yard, build you one, in trade.

Actually, the one I saw last night was about Corvairs, the owner managed to get two back, the builders lost a little cash...

yep, ive seen a couple episodes. its not too bad. they sell off as much as they can. and they give back some awesome vehicles. its good, especially when the stuff these people have will never be completed. :2thumbs:

I couldn't see giving up all my cars for one to get restored. I told my wife to not even think of calling those guys.

I really like the show.

My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

for the most part, i like it too. i wonder how many places they tried to get into that blew them off? regardless of what they are offering to do, there is still a love for rusty junk when you have collected it. its very hard to let some stuff go. :yesnod:

well, I dunno, pile of junk just sitting there....you can never afford to get one going....and then the offer!

A thinker, for sure....

Give up all for a nice car, or not?

I don't see the point of sitting on a bunch of defunct wrecks, and I don't care about what the VIN tags say about the car's former life.  Swapping out derelicts and getting a functional vehicle that you can actually ENJOY instead of doing the automotive equivalent of jerking off is a screaming deal to me...

You guys talking about the show with Chuck Palumbo on it?

Funny...
If one has the space to store a bunch of cars and they pose no nuisance to anyone, where is the harm?
I have 9 cars, 3 trucks and the wife drives a Honda. Of those 12, only 5 are derelicts. The rest are projects that will get finished. Even if that were not the case, I DO get enjoyment out of looking at them. If they were hauled off, I'd have nothing but memories and pictures.

When a hoader allows their stuff to be hauled off, in some ways it is a symbol of defeat. They are admitting that they will never finish anything and that TIME beat them.

Yeah I have watched that show a few times, I like it pretty good. Chuck's partner (can't think of his name) he is sort of a dick. I may catch hell for saying this, but I actually liked that 68 Charger they did, where they left it bare and clear powder coated it. It was different, when they were talking about it, I was like ohhhh, that's gonna look horrible. But I actually liked the way it turned out.

I like the bare metal look...but on the charger they did it the color match was off between the hood and the fenders.  Still a pretty cool car.

The hoarders that have saved all these cars from being scrapped and are now, or will become, our coveted "barn finds" should be thanked. People enjoy the hobby in different ways, and if they enjoy having lots of stuff instead of a few nice things, that doesn't make it wrong or deserving of this kind of comment.

I like the show. I take it for what it is -- simple entertainment.  I think many of us can see both sides.  I get the "holding on to things" because of the memories and nostalgia, but also see the point we've all heard ... "i'm going to restore it" and that never happens.  About 7 years ago I spotted a 65 barracuda sitting in a guys side yard.  I asked him about it and sure enough "he's gonna restore it with his grandson"  drove by it three years later  "getting ready to start it"  went by last week -- still there.    So If I had an offer to finally get one car, maybe two out of a bunch of stuff sitting in my yard it would be a tough decision but I'd probably go for it.
