All that money to amass all of that machinery and he was dead by 59; that's truly sad.  That's one hell of a collection, though...

:o, crack open the 401k, would be nice to have one.

It is indeed an awesome collection of military vehicles, some very rare to include
soviet armor et al. Not to be a buzz kill but a lot of us enjoyed the link Steve Shirley posted about
this place just before he passed. It was shortly after they bought their new Challenger
and went on a run with other Challenger owners to that place.

No wonder I don't get invited to parties.  :shruggy:

RIP Steve.

Very sad to see the (Jacques) Littlefield collection broken up even though it will 'save' the core of 80 vehicles.  One of my other interests is tanks and I have followed several threads elsewhere on vehicles that were restored for that collection.

Here's the first drive of their prized Panther with Jacques driving.  About 6 weeks later he would be dead but he was able to take it for a short run, this tank in particular had been his passion for several years.

Here it is finished about 6 months later:

I used to feel bad about collections being broken up but it gives others a chance to enjoy that stuff and can often complete or be the seed for other collections.

Wow, according to the press release the core of the collection is moving into my area in Stowe MA.  Have to take a cruise down to see that stuff when it arrives.  :yesnod:

I'd like to have one as a lawn ornament with the barrel pointing straight at my A-hole neighbor's house.
