69 charger for $2000? *update page 6*

I'm still way undecided yet. I appreciate all the replies. I think for now I'm going to continue working on the 73 and I'll see in a little while if they are still there, if they are maybe he will entertain lower offers.

Even the most rotted 69 chargers can fetch at least 1k-2k right?
So maybe the car is overpriced 50% but the car is worth something for sure.

Oh for sure it's worth something I'm just not sure if there's 3k plus travel expenses worth of charger, he told me there's very little left of the coronet and the 69 apparently needs every exterior body panel, roof, frame rails complete interior and an engine. I guess we will see. I also have to consider I have a baby waiting to make an appearance early September.

He does say the car is very rough, which is obvious. He says it needs to be reskinned and new frame rails and floors so basically it's not much more then a firewall and roof structure, and a clean vin. He set me some daylight pics but I can't seem to get them to post.

Open your pictures with Microsoft Office and resize them smaller. Give them a unique filename and they will post.

Hi, I am in New Brunswick so am sort of a neighbor to you.    I looked at the ad, I see it has been for sale for almost 2 months so sounds like he is starting to realize his price is high. I think this is one of the times when a car's location factors largely in to the price due to the travel costs. It is quite a long haul even for anybody in our eastern Canada area.

I can't even imagine how bad the Coronet must be if he feels the Charger is the most saleable of the two.

Just don't plan on building either one of them into a finished restored car.


Seriously, it took more than $2-3k to get a decent cruise-able '69 Charger 20 years ago.  These days $15k doesn't even buy much.  If you can't afford to deal in these kinds of numbers then you shouldn't be attempting the project.

I have no prob forking out 8-10k for one that's in 8-10k worth restoring, the problem is they just aren't around. I'm not scared of metal work. Right now I have a 73 I bought in new brunswick that is a disaster but I'm still fixing. New firewall front and rear floors trunk floor and extensions, outer wheel tubs and rear rails. It's just not what I want. As for the pics it says the file name is already in use when I try and upload.

Just change the file name, even just add a couple of letters to the existing one.

They are on my iPhone I'll have to put them on my computer to rename. I kinda thought to myself that I'd pay $500 for the car but then I was thinking well it does come with the coronet, plus I'm sure a mint hood and good condition doors which I'm sure is worth something, and the biggest thing being all the new floor pans. Anyway I'm not jumping on anything. That's what happened with the 73 I have.

Those are the worst pics I ever seen. I tried to enhance them with little improvement. But now you say you got better pics. If now $2k thats only $1k each which don't sound bad to me. My Question is do you have $30k+ to restore this car & if you do then why not just buy a $30K charger now? LEON.

To answer you, no I don't have $30k to throw at a car all at once but I do have disposable income each month to buy parts, supplies and so on. I also take some pride in taking a derelict vehicle and making it into something again, but I'm sure many feel the same. I know some about chargers but I posted originally thinking if I passed on them it may a stupid move. I do have better pics they aren't much but they are in daylight I just can't seem to get them to post from my phone. Thanks for the replies guys!

Its cool to be able to bring one back from the dead, but it takes alot of time, money and effort.

Even if you like the 69 and dont mind the work and money, I'd still say keep the 3rd gen and fix her up or make it a driver, or something that will bring you some extra money.
Then get yourself a 69 (or whatever year you like best). Maybe you can find a project that is a better start or a less larger project.

It's not motivating to have multiple project around. (dont ask me how I know). You do a ton of work, and still dont see alot of result because you need to divide your attention between 2 cars.

Since I sidetracked my other projects and put all my effort in my 69, I see more progress in a shorte period of time wich keeps me better motivated.

Can you pm me your email Leon? I plan on finishing the 73 and it's gate after that is undecided if I find a 69 which is what I want, have for 20 years. If this rust bucket 69 was worth buying I'd store it until I finish the 73.

My suggestion, throw up a wanted add for a 69, and see what you get.  You'd be suprized at how many there are that never make their way onto Kijiji.  That's how I got mine...
