Hi

Many collectible cars are exported out of the US daily.
What is involved importing a collectible car into the US.
I understand the shipping costs, which I will pay for (minimal), but what are the tax laws to import a car into the US?
What's involved.

I have the option to trade one of my cars (New Zealand), on a car in the US (trading up), however the US buyer/seller is concerned about any protential tax/duty costs.

Has anyone imported a car into the US? Car imported value is approx $120K US

Thanks
Gary

Is the car that is being imported into the us made in the us? If so there should be no duty fees.  :2thumbs:

Yes, 100% US made.

What about tax? Any GST? Luxury tax etc?

Thanks

Not on a 40 year old car.  We have more car friendly rules in the USA.  Newer cars however, can have those extra charges.

Go to moparts.com

There's a guy on there that ships cars back and forth to Austrailia all the time.

He should be able to help you.

a friend of mine was interested in one of my cars, too.
Import would have been free of charge because it is a US product
