Well guys, I'm thinking I may buy this 1972 Cutlass, and get rid of my 87 T-Bird.  The Cutlass is a stock rocket 350, where as the Thunderbird has about 400HP with a 347 Stroker.

Looking at a crummy picture side by side, what are your opinions?

The Cutlass is way cooler, no question.

No contest, Cutlass all the way.

That Cutlass... :scratchchin:

I sideswiped a concrete bridge abutment in one just like that.

Same color.

On purpose.

As part of it's preparation for it' s entrance in the local demo derby.

Only if you got a 455 located for it

myk

The Cutlass, but only conditionally.  If this Cutlass is going to cost you any more money or time that could be going to the Charger then I say no to the Cutlass and keep the 'Bird, as it's already done and doesn't need your resources as much as a new project would...

Olds all the way.  Nice looking car.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Myk, I agree with you completely.  The Cutlass is being sold "Certified".  This could mean it's a funny cert, or it could mean the car is legit.  I'll be going to see it on Saturday and check it all up and down.  I'm a little excited to be honest.

Side by side as I see it, the Cutlass is more of a drive everyday / anywhere car.  The T-bird on the other hand, is a speed demon.  It hates traffic, but goes like hell in any other situation.  With ET Streets it's ran 11.6 in the 1/4 (Have the slip somewhere to prove).  The thing is, although I only drive it 8-15 times a year, I hate getting into that situation where I'm sitting in our lovely summer bumper to bumper traffic in Toronto, and the car temp is rising, while mine is even worse  :flame: .  I think the Cutlass would be like my old Bonneville where I could cruise, and just not care.  Still getting all the "HEY MAN NICE CAR!" vibes.  Because as much as we don't care about those comments, they sure are nice every now and then ;) .

I've got an appointment with the guy to see it Saturday.  8500$...  Very fair if the condition is there.  Will let you guys know how it goes  :2thumbs:.

What I'm thinking will likely end up happening; I'll probably get it, put it on Kijiji for 13500$, then drive and enjoy it until someone offers me over 10 for her  :yesnod: .  Now I just have to figure out howto explain to my parents that the Thunderbird will be back in their driveway for a bit  :popcrn:

Still welcome everyones opinion on it!

I'm thinking I'm just gonna keep it exactly the way it is.  At 8500 certified, with a strong running stock rocket 350, it'll be a nice cruiser.  I've got the T-bird for now which is fast enough, plus the Charger will be a beast once it's done as well.

If you bought the olds, resell it & put the extra $$ into getting your mopar done.
