"thinner" motor mounts ?

I got the 440 in my 74 Challenger  and a 26 in. radiator with shroud. With everything bolted in position the 7 blade fan just  barely touches the top of the shroud. I have thought about slotting holes on the plates that bolt the rubber mounts to the motor in an attempt to lower the motor a half inch or so.  Also raising the shroud a half in. or so.  Any ideas on lowering the radiator fan ?  Does anyone make thinner motor mounts ?

Is the diameter of the fan compatible with the opening in the shroud?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks for asking.  This is something I have wondered about.

There is another recent thread on pinion angles that raised the possibility of shimming the K-Frame http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,109961.msg1349788.html#msg1349788

It looks like it raising or lowing the engine would have other consequences.  I will be interested to see what comes up.   :popcrn:
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Yes its a clutch fan and the same parts as on my  Charger

Cooter

I'd move the radiator up slightly before I moved the engine.

Solid motor mounts might be a option too.

I'm with Cooter, those engine, driveshaft and pinion angles were carefully engineered for a reason, you start messing with them and you invite a host of other problems.

Are you sure that your transmission mount is correct and in good shape?

a compressed trans mount will cause the front of the engine to lift.

Yes its the urethane type,2 sides with a small pipe through the middle  of them.

I'd agree with Cooter and try raising the radiator a bit first. There is  maybe 1/8" worth of slop in the upper mounting holes. You could open them up a bit more with a dremel if you need more room. The bottom mounts are slotted and will allow plenty of adjustment.
