crud in frame rails and rockers

I want to spray the inside of my rockers and frame rails to keep them from corroding, but because my car sat outside in a field, critters got in and made their homes, thus leaving all sorts of nasty stuff behind.

Before spraying, I'd like to clean them out. Is there an easy way or any tricks you guys know of? For the rockers, my fenders are off so I have access to the caps the factory put on...should I remove the caps, clean the insides of the rockers, then weld the caps back on?

Any advice is appreciated.

:iagree: If you block off a bunch of holes except the opposite end then there's only one escape and it will keep the velocity up. A little soap and water can't hurt (think pressure washer). Most of that stuff just needs loosened up and it will fall out.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

    yep compressed air !!
mine  was just a mixture of shot blasting  grit , don't ask  :brickwall:   & Texas sand / road dirt   what I done  is made various attachments  for a a shop vacuum cleaner  thin pipes to stick inside places  :o  then  compressed air from a long thin blow gun at about 200 psi    when blowing out boxed sections  , attach the vacuum cleaner nozzle  , to a hole in the oppsite end of the rocker/ sill  , &  frame rails , your blowing from ! what debris don't come out  other holes gets sucked up by the vacuum cleaner , swap holes etc ,  I was a whole day doing mine , ( I go nuts when ever I do stuff on the charger & it turns into a complete over kill  :yesnod: ;))), wear eye protection too just incace

One other thing that may give you some piece of mind is if you can get a small cheap weed pump sprayer and you put some OSPHO or phosphoric acid in it and kind of shoot that stuff all around in there and let it dry before you coat it that will neutralize a good bit of the rust that may be on the inside. Blow it out to make sure there is no wet residue before you coat it. Watch your eyes of course and use rubber gloves with that stuff.
