Picked Sharps and now a Browning!

Always wanted a Sharps in 45-70 but they were always so expensive, even used. Walked into the local gun store and on the shelf in the used section was a Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70! Picked it up for a pretty good deal in my eyes!

Very nice find, Drache!  The wood, Double-set triggers and color-case hardening looks to be in great shape!  A real Sharps would be nice but Pedersoli makes a very nice reproduction. I would be proud to own that also!  By the way, I have shot a Pedersoli repro in .45-70 and it was great fun. Using factory 405gr. bullets at about 1300fps, you could actually see the bullet going down range! The recoil wasn't bad either!  Congrats!

The old falling blocks are alot of fun. I use a winchester 1885 as a deer rifle. I might have a problem.

Nice gun!

Those are quite expensive in their own right. Davide Pedersoli Co. OEMs those for Cimarron, and they sell new for ~$1500 - $2600, depending on which variant you get. Reminds me of "Quigley Down Under".

That revolver is interesting. It looks like a Colt 1851 Navy, but from the appearance of the cylinder, and the presence of a loading gate, it looks like a cartridge conversion, like the one Clint Eastwood carried in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly".

Brand new this rifle is $1800+ and generally used sells for $1200. I paid $900.

The revolver is a Cimarron Arms "Man With No Name" 1851 Colt Navy chambered in .38 Special. I also own a civil war era 1851 Colt Navy as well.

Very nice Drache. I always liked the Sharps. Ran into a gent at a range a couple of years back that had made a Sharps .45-90 out of parts from 1866 and a 1869 models. Was a real "kick" to shoot. A little out of my price range at the moment but I do have a .45-70 H&R Buffalo Classic that is a "blast" to shoot.

Drache, You have good taste and a lucky guy to get that one. Are you guys shooting Black Powder loads in your .45-70's or Smokeless Factory loads?
I have read where Smokeless Factory Loads are somewhat light so they do not blow the original old guns, if used in them, apart. Any thoughts on that?

Depends on the brand of Sharps. Pedersoli are made to take the pressures of Smokeless. There are other brands though that state not to use Smokeless powder loads.

I shot my dad's "Trap door" ? Springfield 45-70
The bullet was so big you could shoot and then open both eyes and see the round hit downrange.

Would that be a 1000 yard shot?

Cool Drache I just talked to my brother tonight and he and I are both into that long range shooting too. He just came from the Bradis MT shoot today. Dont know if I spelled that right but he lives out there. Good rifle
