Is this a good deal?

I have recently been in contact with a company providing centrifugal superchargers for Mopar applications.  They use Prochargers, and it really appeals to me that I wouldn't have to cut the hood.  The cost of this, is $6,177 to my door, ready to go with water injection, power steering, and all the goodies.  According to the technician, this will provide me with 500 to 600 horsepower on pump gas...even at my rediculous 8,000' of altitude.  Installation can be done over the weekend.

Is this a good deal?  Should I be looking at something different?

A pic of the typical installation in a B-Body:

Im debating this question too, for quite long.
I still like the look of the roots sticking above the hood and having enormous torque available at low rpms.
Last Mopar muscle magazine there was a nice article on one of these. They made ~900hp with water injection, cog belt drive and aftermarket heads. Is your engine upgraded, ready for this supercharger?

Well of course other than not liking them.  What do you like or want?  Depends on what you want you should be able to get more horse out of that thing.  Also, I do not know you can get a pretty good deal on a 6/71 blower for the price your gunna spend

I have seen several newer C5 Corvettes that use the ProChargers and have not heard of any problems with them.

500-600 streetable horsepower can be done with a 440 RB stroker, without all the gadget headaches.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

having stall converter that kicks in at 3500-4000 rpm isnt streetable. With procharger you can cruise streets and you can drive it with stock stall converter and do not have any problems. If you want fast sleeper its the way to go.

With that money you could build a stroker engine and still afford to run a 6spd Keisler trans! Now that is ultimate street!

Why would you need a big stall converter???

I run an MP 166K (2200-2400 stall) and putting out 550-575 horsepower with an Eddy headed 496 RB stroker.

With approximately 600 ft lbs of peak torque, and a torque curve that comes in earlier in the RPM range than a stock stroke 440, how much stall do you have to have?

Once again, key word in my first post is streetable.

Over 10,000 miles of daily driving as proof.
