Here's mine just got it less then a mouth ago, beside it is my old truck

six-tee-nine

1974 Mercedes Unimog 404

zero luxury, no power steering, 4 wheel drums, ridiculously noisy, BUT...... fully lockable drivetrain, very low gears, big tires and portal axles all come standard in one of these and they are dirt cheap over here.

No need to tell you that even 100% bone stock you leave alot of modified 4X4's for dead when things get nasty....

Greetings from Belgium, the beer country

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

If only they were dirt cheap over here - found a '70 in St. Louis a month or so ago for the low price of - 15K.

Wife has an '08 Commander - best thing Jeep has put out in years.   Sad they discontinued them.  Should have done a Rubicon Hemi edition if you ask me.  One day when they're dirt cheap I'm gonna build exactly that - solid axles and all :)

I pulled this one out of a barn for little less than $ 700.

Poured fresh gas in it, bled the brakes and drove it home.  OK I admit I had to put another $ 1500 or so in it to get it road worthy as it it right now.

On the other hand you guys have affordable 2nd gen Chargers compared to our pricetags.... :2thumbs:

This one is just an old truck that we take to the mud runs just for fun. Rusty but in pretty good shape mechanically.

The second one is an Amish guy that decided he wanted to play in the mud too.

Good looking Blazer. 102k is barely broke in.  ;) That Suburban I posted earlier will more than likely be in Carlisle next month and probably turn over 215k on the way, and I wouldn't be afraid to take off for San Diego tonight in it.... other than the fact that I really don't want to go to San Diego.  :smilielol:

That's great!!  I had dreams of towing the charger with the blazer, but it would most likely wag all over the highway!  Love these old trucks!

I usually just lurk here, but after seeing your mog I had to post mine:

That G-Wagen looks clean - how much do those run nowadays?

Thanks. Prices vary wildly. You can pick up a decent beater W460 for $6k, or slide into the new AMG 6x6 for $600k, there's a G for every budget.

G-wagen's are incredible value for money.

And imo one of the best 4X4's out of the box. they dont need alot of mod's to outrun other stuff.
if i were to trade my mog for a less truck type 4X4 it would most def be a G. i'd love to have a late '90's OM 606 powerded model. Ideal superturbodiesel engine

BTW nihil real nice one you got there.

I can't speak for the new ones (I can't afford them), but the older ones hold their value quite well too.

Agreed, for a factory 4x4 it's hard to beat a G. I've been through a few built Jeeps and other random 4x4's, and last winter this thing proved its prowess beyond any doubt. I was plowing over/through 4ft piles of snow and ice to get around people in their jacked up pickups and Jeeps who were sliding around or stuck. Pulled a couple folks out of their predicaments, but pride got the best of the others I offered assistance to.

I was actually looking for a Pinzgauer 710k or 712k when I found my G, but am quite pleased with how things ended up. Mine is a N/A OM617 currently, and I'm looking for an OM617A (turbo version of same engine for those who don't know). I've heard great things about the OM606, but I'm looking for a more simple/straightforward swap, and keeping the no electronics appeal. I know you can swap the mechanical OM603 pump onto the 606, but being my first diesel out of the the 30 or so cars I've owned, I want to ease into it and keep stock part availability. When I find a donor engine, I've got a 711.113 5sp to go in it as well.

Luckily OM 617a's are findable in the US due to the emission regulations of that time.

Over here they are real hard to find and bring big money when they do appear for sale. They are very strong engines wich are easy to maintain and when fueled and boosted they also bring awesome power.

And yes the OM606 can be used with a inline pump from the 603 or even better the OM603da35 (wich was the 3.5liter version of the 603 mostly found in the S350 or G350 turbodiesel)
Swap the pump elements for 7.5mm elements and add a Holset HX40 turbocharger with a large intercooler and these things shake up to 550 horsepower out of their sleeve.

If you consider an engine swap make sure to peek here :
